I see a lot of the guys on the KBT and in general use this kickboat.

My question is: Has anyone fitted a trolling motor to one? If so, please enlighten me on the battery setup, and how it will affect the overall handling of the craft.

Also, which motor would be best suited.

My personal opinion is that a Watersnake T18 is the best for a kickboat. Small, light and designed for small vessels, also got the shortest shaft, 24". You also don't need a 100+ah battery to go all weekend without a charge, a smaller lighter 60ah battery is fine, thereby saving 18+ kg's on the battery.

But a lot of people use 30/34lb thrust ones, so no problems using something bigger/heavier.
It's got nothing to do with speed either, you might gain 1km/h more with a 30lb thrust compared to a 18lb thrust motor. More about torque than speed, the higher the thrust the bigger the boat it can push, and a 18lb thrust motor can already tow other kick boat with no problems either.

Battery setup, well, you connect the motor to the battery and off you go lol

I purchased one a while back from Killer Deals in Durban.
Courier down was a extra 100 bucks.

Check with them if they still stock them.

Spoke to the official importers last week, they still have stock. I bought my first one from Ganis, will be buying my second one from them as well if they hurry up with sending me the invoice.
Haven't found anyone in the Western Cape that stocks them.

Apexwalker are the distributors.

Spoke to them last week, no stock. Ended up phoning the distributors to ask if they still have and they do, so they suggested I use Ganis again seeing I bought my first one there.

If Ganis does not send me a invoice today (usually have to "press" them a bit) maybe everyone in the western cape that wants to order one should get in contact and we get them to send a few to a local store perhaps for us?

Ok, seems I have just bought the last T18 in SA. So whomever was going to take a drive to Ganis it's sold. (After all I did orginize the trolling motor for myself via the distributor in any case Smile

)

I found a Motorguide 24lb secondhand. Any specific make of battery that is to be avoided? Can't seem to find a 60ah anywhere at the moment.

While we're on the topic (sort of)....

What type of flippers works best with the Pisces? Due to the higher seat etc.

But I see they are quite expensive now, bought mine two years ago. Only "issue" I have is I use booties with them and got a major "bootie tan" so thinking of using the closed heel ones soon.

That 24lb was a nice find!

Battery, well can't even remeber where I got mine, also having trouble finding a 60ah on the web now, saw a 70ah one at outdoorwarehouse last weekend for R1600 but have no idea how good they are.

My new Pisces should arrive any day now and I cant wait to spend some time on the water with it.

Got the trolling motor and battery sorted.

Next ad on would be a fishfinder. I'm looking at the Humminbird Fishing Buddy. I am clueless about fishfinders, as I never owned or used one.

I know there are lots of different ones on the market, but I would like to know what you guys are using. Any brands to stay away from? (out of an aftersale service perspective)
