A few questions......

Hi Guys,

Very new here. I just started tubing and have few questions.

1. I have a Froggy V tube, but want to make my own rodholder for it. I've seen one at Bass Pro Shops, but it will work out over 1.5K to get it here. Any DIY solutions that you guys know of?

2. Which fish finder is suitable to use on a tube?

3. For the Cape guys... Are we allowed to use a tube on Door de Kraal dam close to Tygervalley?

The Elite4x CHIRP is a fantastic option with all the latest technology and the same vertical resolution as the HDS9 Touch Gen3. We do it at R3765 which includes the quad frequency transducer which sells for nearly R3k on it's own.

Yes you are allowed to tube on doordekraal BUT: You need to have a freshwater fishing license as well as a Doordekraal Permit which can get from the Durbanville Municipality. As far as I can remember they are +- R160

I'm still trying to get my head around CHIRP technology and other fancy acronyms designed to confuse the average angler into thinking that one is much better than the other. Hope this helps:

I built myself a nice rod holder with pvc which includes a mount for my fishfinder. I have a piranhamax 150 which costs around R1500. The PVC is nice an light and the fishfinder does what you need.

I got my inspiration from the image below.

You can also try killer deals for a fish finder, depending on your budget they have a wide variety of items...

Another question. Where do you get a freshwater fishing license? I went to the city council to try and get a permit for Door de Kraal, but I need a license to take out the permit.

The post office only do sea fishing permits. Cape Nature? Tackle shops?

Get your fishing license at Cape Nature reserve. Bellville has an office somewhere. Used to know where, but I think they moved. Google it.The Doordekraal permit you get from Durbanville municipality. I think it is a lady called Sharon. Haven't done this in years (since I moved), maybe somebody got some updated info.
