Now why don't we see this kinda thing at all resorts in South Africa?

Cos, it's a "one minute wonder"....and nobody except the bass fraternity are the only ones that seem to lead the way in enforcing the rules as we always have done...... :blue-sad:

Show me in the Government Gazette that they are empowered to Police this . By what authority can they enforce this.

Only Officials allowed to Police this is the SAPS themselves.
They could probably refuse entry to their premises and launch site " Right of admission reserved"
They are NOT authorised to enforce this LAW fullstop.

You are on the money there Hawkeye, they cannot enforce it but one would expect that they all do what the Vaal is doing.

It's like going to the Kruger National Park, it is got nothing to do with them if you have a valid driver's license or not whilst driving on national roads but they will turf you if you drive in their parks without one.

I was checking that out yesterday at inanda all bass boats where complient yet i only saw one ski boat with numbers on even the big larney Panaches wernt complient and most of the jet skis were under age children . but I have seen SA police on a couple of occasions asking guys on the slipway for skippers but I have never seen them do any thing to guys who dont have them.

I personally have never been asked for my skippers even tho' I do have it!

However, whilst fishing at quagga's prior to the due date for your skippers and COF,
I meet the examiner for the Certificate of Fitness, who was checking 40 odd boats (ski-boats and like), and he noted that "Bass anglers and boats" they are not to much worried about as we as a fraternity has been pretty strict with our rules and regulations as laid down by SABAA with regards to safety over the years at competitions etc and regular fishing.

Most of the venues we use in the Cape are pretty much in favour of bass fishermen, as I suppose it brings in a good revenue as well as we obey the rules pertaining to each venue and therefore have a pretty good reputation.

Saying that, they should impose strict ruling with regards to the large water ski-ing boats and jetski's as these guys seem to disobey the rules and as Crow said, youngsters are riding around, still, I'm sure without licence's etc.

Hey big guy I love you to bits but I have to differ with some of your thoughts.:blue-doubt:

The law is the law and there should be no exception. Small venues, large venues, bass anglers, weekend warriors, jet-skis no matter who or where or whether it is enforced or not, we must all comply. Just because a person or group of persons act responsibly and fish smaller bodies of water does not mean they okay, they are only okay when in possession of a valid skippers license and their boats have COF (with buoyancy by August 2009).

The only way that we as the bass fraternity can show that we are responsible is to set the example and comply fully. :blue-cool:

I agree with you boet wholeheartedly, and I forgot to menetion that "that being the case it should not leave us complacent in not following all the rules and regulations". :blue-biggrin:

Well It seems as if the police here in SA are heading in the same direction as police in other African country's! They are becoming more and more ballsy and taking bribes is becoming a norm (I have seen it happen and heard tales). Soon you will have to carry extra cash around and your valid licence ( If you don't have one then carry more cash). Because if they catch you Even if nothing is wrong they will find something!
