How were you retrieving it?? I have found the best is when you let it sit for about 10secs or longer then you give it 1 full pull bringing the rod behind you and quickly take up the slack (perfect job for your burner Wink ) land let it sit again.

The 1 full sweep imitates a crayfish when it is trying to get away from something.

I am no expert but this method has been explained to me on several occasions.

It sinks pretty fast and has an exposed hook so I would cast and almost immediately start the retrieve... I did change from continuous to stop start... but to be quite honest I never give any new lures a fighting chance and give up on them way too soon. It is a problem I have and I am working hard on it.
