Is there any clubs out here where my son can get involved in

Hi Deville38,
We don't have a club, but my sales guys at Eddlesgas and Tackle in Retreat are all avid bass-fisherman, and they often take customers, especially newbies out float tubing or just fishing. They are on the water every weekend. Feel free to pop in any time and bring your son along, and the guys would love to help him get started. We don't have a formal club as yet, because many guys prefer to not deal with all the politics, but my guys can certainly show him the ropes, and would be more than happy to take him fishing I am sure.

Welcome deville38. The so called "politics" aside, I would take up on this kind offer but if your son is looking at competitive fishing in the future, then it may be necessary to join a club and be affiliated. The junior circuit is very interesting and I would encourage that if I may.

Riprap, I didn't mean Politics in a derogatory way, but I think we all know that us competitive guys can get a little bit like old ladies at times.... Competitive angling and social fishing are very different beasts, and I was just trying to suggest that what my guys try and offer is aimed more at the social side of things, even though we are all competitive anglers as well. Either way, I think it is great that there are Dad's trying to still take their son's fishing. Would be interesting to do a poll sometime to see if there would be any interest in a "father & son" sort of league in future.... Just something I have been thinking about....

No probs Bughasbitten and that's why I said "politics" aside! The oke asked about a club for the youngster to join and you offered him an alternative which is cool. Kids don't need "politics" but you must also bear in mind that competitive angling is not childs play. I like your thinking on the other initiative........
