Inanda Report 19th August

What perfect day weather wise? little or no wind? the dam was like glass and the sun was warm when it finally peeped over the hills. Expectations like always were high and I met up with a buddy I met on Bassfishing.co.za (Fishton) who was already on the dam having had a great day yesterday with crank bait and he was back on the point off Libby Bay cranking in a big way? after introductions and general chit chat I pulled out the spinner and gave it a go? no luck? tried the 4? Yum Dinger and got a small nibble but not much else? so we decided to head for Birds Nest past Taxi Bay which has been very productive for me lately? nothing? Mmmm across to the little bay opposite Birds nest and bingo? 2 fish were brought on board... then back to Libby Bay where were nailed a few more fish? then we tried off Dusi point (a recommendation)? I managed another one there and then we went to Bailey Bump where we spent quite some time and it accounted for a few more fish? at this stage the on board score was 5 for Rob and 4 for Sean? then we tried that hump under the water off Rocky Bay and nothing? it was now 11:00 and normally the fish disappear somewhere? so we went to Durban bay and that?s where they had gone? by the time we finished in Durban bay I had a new personal record for the number of fish at 11 and my buddy had 6. I started to understand what Bass Thumb was?

While the fish were all less than a kg it was great day fishing for me never having caught that many before... the biggest was 950grams. Here is the score for the day...
Spinner Bait ? 0
Crank boat ? 0 (First time I had tried these)
6? finesse worm ? 6 (my buddy)
4? Yum Dinger ? 11 (Yours faithfully)

There were the most boats I have seen on Inanda before and I guess the Summer only fisherman are starting to come out of the woodwork? the water temperature was 60 degrees and a good tan was got at the same time! I do love Inanda? and the boat issues were all fixed and it was just an awesome day in Africa!

Thanks for the good report robfisher. When you where on the water today I was finishing some work on my boat at home in Pinetown. Had all intentions to be at Inanda today, picked up my new transom s/steel plate at 08:30 (replaced my transom all by myself) and was hoping to have it on in a hour or so...... well the rest is history. Only finished now and reading your report.

Nice to see that you caught so well! I will be at Inanda tomorrow and try all the spots, can't wait!!!!!! Boat has been out of action for six months and I had to sit back and read all your reports.

Yes BM this is something I?m learning fast? the spot that works today could be dead the next? I have started fishing a spot for 30 minutes and if no action I move to the next? it really worked for me yesterday. And yes Bass Thumb is great? I look forward to the day my bass thumb bleeds! ;-)

Yes Fab we want a blow by blow report on Goedertrouw. We want all the gory details? lures used, fish sizes, spots the works!

Yip we did do a bit of travelling to find the fish but that?s all part of the fun? and the Yum Dinger did indeed not let me down? we had a great time? I just hope my luck holds for the Classic! I would quite like a new Triton or a trip to fish in the US!

Pomerob are you sure you used the 4? version and not a 3? or 5?. ;-)

I know how kak it is to have a zippo day? all that way to Goedertrouw with huge expectations and diddly squat? I?m discovering that bass fishing is not an exact science? so much gut feel, weather conditions and who knows what else? but I guess that?s why it keep us so into it? the ever quest for a sore thumb! ;-)
