Hello there all fellow Bassers.

I will start with an unfortunate confession: I went fishing for the first time in my 30 year life over new years!!
shocking, I know. Sad
I managed to catch 2 minuscule bass but that was enough make me go out and buy a rod, reel, line and an assortment of lures and hooks.

Now i am determined to make up for my lifelong lack of fishing.....but here is the rub, I have no clue what I'm doing!!!
I now end up crying myself to sleep at night due to yet another bassless excursion to Rutter road, with the words "spinner, plastic or crank" making their rounds through my mind. I even started wondering if throwing TNT into the water would work like it does in the movies? luckily saner heads have prevailed...........so far.

I finally decided to swallow my pride and came online looking for help. I am hoping some of the wiser and more experienced heads on here can help guide me through my journey of bass realization.

Apart from Rutter and Klein Princess, are there any other bass spots around Cape Towns' southern suburbs? Actually anywhere around cape town would work.

I look forward to hearing from you all and any tips, tricks and secrets you willing to share with me would be most welcome.

Here's to a great 2015 of fishing!!

Hey Dilly,
Welcom to the forum, we get a bit hot headed every now and again but there is a lot of great info to be gathered. I started 3 years ago and the people I've met on BFSA have been brilliant (not Rory though :blue-lol: ).
Update you info so we know where you're from (Southern suburds we precume) and a pic/avatar is always good.
Next thing is getting a kickboat so you can join the KBT.
Cheers

a buddy of mine also just started fishing and he got himself a kickboat.
i am weighing up the options between a little 2/3 man inflatable with a collapsible aluminium floor or a kickboat.

what would your suggestions be regarding the 2 options?

Honestly go for the kickboat. Much safer, more convinient and enough space for all the rods you will ever need. I am busy organising one for my wife as well so let me know if you would like to see how it works

thanks for your advice guys. I got a quote for the 2/3 man inflatable and its not exactly cheap. You looking at about 7.5k for the collapsible floor version.

the kickboat sounds like the more economical option.

Where can I find someone selling a second hand one around the Cape Town area?
i had a quick look on the "stuff for sale" forum topic but, unfortunately, nothing there.
