Looking for a potential trade for a day of fishing...

Hello all. I'm living in the states now but I swing through Jozi once a year to visit family. I'll be through there from the last week of October to the end of the first week in November. Wanting to either do a kayak trip or hitch a ride on boat just for a single day (or even a half). My trade offer would be some baits from the US that you may not be able to find there...

If I can't talk anyone into it, maybe someone can just tell me where there's a local, small pond or something where I can do some bank fishing for bass. Is the fishing even any good for bass that time of year? I estimate it may be early pre-spawn?

Give us some extra info as to the area you will pop into in jhb. Most of the chaps are a tad area specific so they might not answer due to the bigger position.

But if you visit the western cape, I can certainly assist you there.

Most times , well my area in limpopo spawn is during End September- October and in November should be post spawn and a great time to fish. So I would think the timing is sweet. I would have taken you out no problem but I live 6 hours from JHB.

Sorry gents I suppose it was a bit vague of me! I'll be landing in JHB and family lives in Roosevelt Park/Northcliff area Gauteng...(Off Beyers Naude area/Milner Avenue). Would love to be able to hitch a ride to and from the water since I'll be a bit house bound. There is another catch that I didn't have the presence of mind to mention - We'll be at the Kruger that middle weekend during our trip (1 and 2 Oct) so this might have to be a week day excursion. @ "H", where do you fish? Vaal? I'm trying to work out how to bring a rod with me but I'll definitely bring a couple reels at least and maybe loan a rod? Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks guys I'm stoked!

Hey Yak, welcome boet. Two years ago a German fishing sports writer did what you are doing now and I and my boys ended up taking him out for a full day and a late night. We had an absolute blast and I can see that so will you. I predict this is just the start of some generous offers still to come.

HI yakangler fishing in the week no problem. I can fetch you in northcliff and we can go fish from there we have many options when it comes to fishing destinations north or south or even better where the fishing is on we can decide later I don't mind traveling. I have plenty rods and reels which you could use. if you want to bring your reels you are welcome. the vaaldam is quite good around the time you want to fish but we must look at all options such as rhinohead ,ristewinter or even harties.i don't mind traveling. forum members please help with some suggestions I am also in the mood to fish haven't had a bass thumb for along time thanks and god bless

Okay that sounds great to me... What's the travel time to Harties from Jozi (Northcliff)? I definitely want to fish but want to be considerate of quality time with family too. Don't mind heading out early but don't want to be home late. Hope I'm not sounding too needy haha. H I'd like to go along with you since it seems that is the best option right now. I'll have to get firm dates that we'll be at Kruger so I can narrow it down. Closer to the time I'll get your phone number so I can contact you when I'm there. More than likely will be the week of 3-7 November. Super stoked to fish some native waters for a chance at a bass from home soil. Thanks again all for the feedback!!

yakangler the early bird catches the worm. we can launch early and fish a good morning session. harties is about an hour or so from northcliff if we dodge the traffic. I am sure we are going to have fun and if I am correct the earliest we can launch is at 6am but we will sort that one out later.PM me and I will give you my cel no. God bless
