Today we started building one of "my" bass dams on the resort and excitement was almost to much for me for me


Leveled out to start filling up the low points


The first loads coming in to start the building process



This will all become flooded vegetation and submerged timber and believe me when i say i have gps logged nearly every stump rock and crevase.LOL

Uuuuuum ..... Will keep you posted will only be able to say once the wall and the spilway has been completed but it is not going to be huge but a kick oat a must and it is going to be +-6m deep in some points

Hope you've got the clearance from water affairs to build this dam?
Wasn't trying to be facetious - have a farmer friend who complains bitterly about the admin costs of deepening his own dams - can only guess how much it must cost to build one from scratch.

Looks good, did you excavate a foundation first and compact with non porous material?
Soon as there is water get some baitfish breeding in there. Whatever the engineer said, double the size of the slipway.......Don't plant exotic pretty pink water lillies, you'll be sorry.

This is all legit above board the worx we are visited weekly by water affairs environmentalist town planners health and safety environmental impact studies have been done the lot this is a multi million rand resort phase 1 was upward of 30million there are going to be 14 phases just to nip the critics in the but right now ( ne kassie lol) the dam is not in a stream feeding a river directly and we will be getting permits to stock dams with bass and trout the dam will be part of the extensive sewage plant system by the time the water reach the dam it should virtually be safe to drink it will hold the water overflow of the waterpark and we will irrigate the gardens from it.

@ rippie it is built by civil engineers I hope they know what they are doing they being paid enough.

And just for the hek of it we had Eskom engineers involved as well the dam wall will not interfere with the power lines above

Right I had my rant and rave now let's focus on the positives in a few years time there will be more waters to fish in northwest province and as a avid angler be sure that I will do everything in my power to make it a anglers dream summer and winter( ninja you will have to make the trip here instead of your annual castle burn trip LOL)

Haha Rant on, rant off, wipe on, wipe of.....chill ol" Ernst. Sounds like a lekka project but you will battle to get those permits for bass & trout due to the new proposed NEM:BA regs.
So if below settling dams etc then there will be free fertilizer which is good for the fish and other aquatic life. rocky gravel looks ideal for smallies.......mmnnnn, let's not go there.
