Hi Everybody
I am from Johannesburg and really enjoy my bass fishing(from the boat).
Well done on a great website where a lot of information is being shared amongst a wide variety of anglers. It is great to turn on the pc, log in and see what everybody is talking about regarding the fishing at the moment-certainly makes the week shorter! I would like to know if anyone has some information on Boskop Dam in the North West Province? I have never been there and will certainly appreciate any info! Tight Lines to all!

Boskop can hold some gems. Typically the water is clear so you cant get too close to your target otherwise you'll spook them.

There are nice grass lines in the dam which work on both sides, meaning dam side and bank side. Throw weightless and mojo rigs in as natural colour you can find like mardi gras, watermelon or green pumpkin (senko's and fluke's). Twitch sticks also work in the grass pockets. Take your pitching rod with you to use on the reed lines.

Best area's I have encountered is the right of the launch area, going all the way up to the river section. Also opposite the launch area on the right of the dam wall. There is also a small rocky section in front of the dam wall that is marked with a red buoy, you can use cranks around this area. To the right of the wall there is a rocky face that leads to a reed section with deep grass lines, this is also good with a fluke or senko.

Take note of the dam rules though. The entire dam is a no wake zone, so either idle only or go on the trolling motor. Also, no fishing in the demarcated area's with the buoy line in front of the water affairs buildings (this is left of the launch on your way to the yacht club)

havent been there this year, but should be thick with grass. which means the frog should be on the cards. lots of reeds along the perimeter, pitch them. on the open water spinner baits along the grass edges.
almost everyone launches from a place called naturama, the launch is a bit tricky as it is narrow and shallow.
