Strange how things work - I have just read the posting (drama / saga / moerslat) re the KBT Live Wells :blue-badgrin:
Just yesterday, I was in my garage welding up a security gate, thinking, it would be great if our group of "bass passionists" could work along the same lines as Free Masons. Eg; If there was a forum for us to "broadcast" our talents and /or occupations and then give preference to fellow passionists. It could be a mutually beneficial exercise.

Example - I do metalcraft (gates / trailers / candelabras etc.) - I have got no problem purchasing my materials from a fellow "Basser" iso any old metal merchant (as long as I am not going to be paying more and the service is the same) - In turn, I would appreciate being contacted when someone on BFSA needs some metal work done. I would obviously only get the job if my price and quality was right.

If I needed my lawnmower fixed - or a website created for my metal work - or for that matter, if I needed to buy a Golf Cart - I might buy one from Elite Golf Carts, without knowing that "BassCrap" was is in fact a Golf Cart merchant. Had I known, I could have bought from him.

Could this be a good idea? :eusa_think: I think so.

We already do that here on BFSA. A lot of fishing and non fishing related trading has been going on and I've used the business services of members here. Maybe not a bad idea starting a topic for this sharing our trades. We just did that on my local community FB page. And people got business from that.

Rory - Well that would depend on his quality and price - but the main thing is, you now know that his trade / hobby / talent is making KB livewells.

I will support Malcolm iso the oke in the Mall just because Malcolm is "one of us",
but again, that is as long as his price is competitive because I'm not going to support him at my expence.

I don't think the idea is that anyone must expect special prices or favours just because you're a basser - but it is simply more about supporting a fellow basser.

I think I'm trying to make the point that I would like to support fellow Bassers, but I can't if you don't let it be known what it is that you do.

Yo Q - I think a dedicated forum topic would work where the "members" could (I am trying to say this without using the word "advertise") tell their story. Maybe in the form of an advertorial? People jumping up and singing full on Jingles would be taking the thing off track.
The BFSA powers that be should give this some consideration and then give it the nod. The idea of a VERY SMALL admin fee being charged and then put into the MT coffers would not be out of order.

Networking is a definite plus. As Q mentioned we too do the same with a local forum/FB group in our area and have helped and been helped numerous times.

The fact is I'm retired and work from home so I have basically got no overheads to speak of - with the result, I can do metalwork at a much better price than most, and of a better standard because I do the work myself.
I have wanted to "advertise" my work on our site but one does not want to start something that could end up being abused. If it's on a dedicated forum, then it could work to everyones benefit.
