Inanda 06 March 2007 ? By Groot Baars Jagter

Yesterday was one of the best days I ever had at inanda, good weather, good company and most of all lekka fishing!

Got to the dam at 08:00. My brother-in-law, Mark, which is visiting from Ireland was with me. This was only the second time he held a fishing rod. We tried the reeds at the slip way and got nothing. I then shot of to Andre?s point and only got a couple of small ones. Mark caught his first fish in his life!

I was using U-Vibe Speed Worms the whole day?.why because it worked! I must have got about 10-15 fish between 600-900g all along Rocky Bay. At 12:00 I decided it was time for Cabbage Patch, first cast and I had a solid strike, I could immediately feel this was a bigger fish. I shouted for the net but Mark thought I was talking k@k as he has only seen rats coming out so far. When he so Madiba?s younger brother he nearly fainted! Out with the Berkley scale and he weight 2.67kg. I took a photo of the fish on the scale and it show 2.65kg!!! I will however declare the fish as weighing 2.67kg.

At 13:00 we had a quick braai and met up with Warrenx. We fished one or two spots on the way to the Quarry and got a couple of small fish. We worked the banks on the left of the Quarry and I cast the U-Vibe with pin point accuracy under an overhanging tree, I was just about to reel in when I saw a big fish swimming towards the area where I cast?I waited and slightly switched the lure?.booom?fish on. This time when I asked for the net Mark was there in a flash. Landed the fish?3.01kg! Heeeeeha!

The rest of the day was fun with lost of fish all just under the 1kg. I was rewarded with a nice 1.35kg just before the close of the day. We left at about 18:00.

Bass fishing is the best!!!

Hi Norkie.

Great effort there yesterday !! Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that not the first day at Inanda that you have caught TWO really good fish in one day? This is good fishing. Taking nothing away from your PB, but to catch one huge fish in a day is a day to remember, but it's not as good as getting two decent fish in a day. In SABAA points, you would get over 7,5 points for this effort where Madiba would get you less than 6 points.

Well done Norkie.... better keep this form up for the tour and you may be sporting a new Shimano Crucial rod or Chronarch reel on board :actionpeace:

Well Done 'G.B.J'! Big Grin I see it's your turn to make everyone jealous this month! I hear stories of big hook-ups, but it's always so much better to see the 'Real Thing'. When you going to put the photos in the gallery? Those U-Vipes are going to serve you well in the Summer Tour, at least you won't blank like me! (no strolling) Big Grin

I missed the action by 24 hours! What a bummer? bring back winter fishing or at least spring fishing! Or at least let it rain when I next go foooooshing! But well done on your 3 nice fish in one day? that is classed as a very good day!
