Rebel 532

Morning everyone

All Rebel 532 owners, please advise what size motor you have on your boat
and how many fuel do you use for a day on water?

I know of 2 people with that rig.

One has a 225hp Optimax.
The other has a four stroke 175 Suzuki.

Leon,

It is not the boat that is heavy on fuel, it's the motor.
I currently have a Rebel 582 with 225 Optimax and it is much lighter on juice than my previous boat that was much smaller. (Bass seeker 480 with 200HP Yamaha).

If you really want to get a boat that is fuel efficient, you should look at Optimax, E-tec or four stroke possibly, the normally aspirated motors and the EFI's are thirsty and heavy on the pocket.

All the best with the decision.......you will only really find out once you own the boat if you are happy or not.

You could put a 200 EFI on the 532 and cruise around at 2500 revs in order to conserve fuel,but you may fall asleep en route to your destination.If you have the funds,a decent fourstroke is nice,but the Etech and Optimax motors are very efficient too...I have a 225 Etech that carries me along at a nice pace and it doesn't break the bank on fuel...and I never fall asleep when riding my baby...my eyelids can't close. :blue-biggrin:

Fished off Plaasdam's old 531 with Yammie 200 VMAX and that was quite thirsty as well. Something like 45 litres for a day at Clan rings a bell.

my rebel 532 is extremely economical - I don't use any fuel - cause it has no motor on the back..... yet.... but the good news is August' old 130 yammie is coming to cape town next week!!!! yay....

to be serious, johnnie and I use about 30liters on a average day running around rather a bit - and he has a 200hp 2.6liter carb yammie on his 532. and that's flat taps as johnnie has a problem with his right foot...it cramps, and stays flat... if I recall correctly - Plaasdam has the same issue with his foot....

Hi Guys

Thanks for all the replies.....i'm thinking of maybe trading my Rebel 440 in
on a 532 early next year. Don't want to buy a bigger boat with 200hp+ motor
that will make me bankrupt cos of fuel. I will definitely be looking at Optimax
or E-Tec.

My brother is running at 150 Etec HO on his, does a little over 100km\h and is light on fuel, really depends on how fast you want to go

I run a 300 xs optimax on my tornado and with going were ever i want on any dam for the whole day never used more than 20-25 liters a day,i can not be more happier with my motor consumption, also have to add that it is with speeds up to 138kph!

Ek is n man, so voet in die hoek !

Governer skop in op 6150 rpm , so ek kan van 27' na 29 skuif as ek so wou, en seker nog so 5-10km uit kry, maar ek is happy met wat ek nou het, boot is baie stable en soos ek se, reg vir my!

Daar is nie nie baie boote wat om my jaag nie, en as daar is is ek ook nie gepla nie.
Die boot vang nie die vis nie!

I have a Yammie 225 Vmax on my 532 which I think is a tad much for the size of the boat, especially running at full tilt she goes like a rocket but can bite you in the teeth if not careful. My opinion is that a 200 or even 175 would be better. (maar meeste van ons hou van jaag!!!)

I agree that a Optimax or Etec would be better on fuel, but it is all relative. "The weight of your foot is directionally proportional to your fuel account!"

During a pre-fish I drive slower and use between 20-30 litres a day, on comp day up to 40 on your average dams.. A place like the Vaal river and Arabie is quite another story all together! :twisted:
