Rebel 440

Hey Guys.. I bought myself my 1st Boat and are new to the whole boating scenario. Ive done all type of fishing and consider myself to be an allrounder when it comes to fishing. now to ask the question.... what prop would be best for my Motor. ive got a Rebel 44o with a 75 Mariner Outboard and its running a 4blade prop at the moment. i want the best performance from my motor.

Any help would be much appreciated. :lol:

Hi.

I've got my 440 for less than 2 months now and I'm extremely happy with mine. I've got a 115V4 Yummy on mine so a bit of weight and power difference though.

How does the 115V4 do on petrol consumption?
I got a 90yummie on my Rebel 440 but lately it struggles to get on to plane!!!
Maybe its due for a service! What should the max rpm's be on wot??

Think its 1998, 13.25x17" stainless

The max rev (WOT) specs for this motor is 4 500 - 5 500 rpm with max output of 66.2kw @ 5 000 rpm.
You've got a 17" pitch SS - how many blades and what is your current wot?
Seen a 440 before with same specs that also battled and I think the bigger motors create too much drag on the rear hull somewhat....... :blue-rolleyes:

3-blade s/s......dont know what speed i get! Rpm's goes to 5100, i'm not
to worried about that.......what bothers me is that if i put water in livewell
it struggles to get on to plane!!

I have got the exact same problem as you and whilst it's better to go down in pitch for better stern lift, your rpm (wot) will climb even though you haven't reached max yet of 5500! Is it a Solas 13.25 x 17"? I would test a four blade with the same specs, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Nope....Apollo xhs. Bought the boat with prop on. Will it help if i shift
some weight to the front?

Yes it will to a certain extent but the overall load still doesn't change! Bear in mind that while you are battling to get on the plane, you probably have the throttle flat out without the same response in rpm so the motor is under load which is not doing your bearings any good....... Have you got access to a loaned 4 blade prop or a smaller than 17" pitch SS to test? Test under full load as if you were going fishing normally.

There is no other way to rule out all the possible causes......phone a friend, ask around the club, beg, borrow or steal.......!
