More bad weather for the Cape ....... eish!

The weather in the Cape is nearly as bad as the Blue Bulls' rugby ..... :blue-biggrin:

Weare going to get rained on big time...again,by this afternoon.And the same thing this time next week...ENOUGH :blue-mad: The problem with this amount of rainfall falling at this time of year is the Water Affairs at Clanwilliam draw the level of the dam dowm,maybe a meter,to allow for the expected high inflow to the dam.This time of year,those nesting bass have pretty much selected their nesting sites,ideal height of water,ideal bottom structure etc,then overnight the level drops... then it all fills up again.But I am sure they are used to this...don't have to tell nature how to do it's thing.

the nests at little princess are very clearly visible from the bank on the sunbury side. spaced less than 1.5m apart. full moon tonight. however the carp have been spawning in the parrot grass for more than 3 weeks now. great splashes and finning shows. in spite of the inflow from the canals the water is clear, the fishies are very dark green, almost black on the top-side. fortunately the continual rain has kept even the carp guys awqy.

Hey Jim, that high pressure behind the front is very reminiscent of 1983/84 and '92 when you buggers in the Cape had above average rainfall and the Eastern parts of the country reduced grown men to tears upon watching cows give birth and then die.....!

here in the E cape, we are burning down with pre-frontal conditions and then no rain and lightning fires on strong SE to SW winds behind it. The devastation in my area is the worst on record and not funny at all. The moisture is moving down from the N but burning up before it reaches us or in the odd case we are having freak rain & hail storms with tornados's along the "green" coast but the interior (over the escarpment) is kakking off like you won't believe. This is the driest July - Sept we have had in 9 yrs and the next week doesn't look good either.

Climate change.....naaah boet, it's cyclical and been happening for generations but from what I can tell, in drought years (coupled with massive floods....normally out of our rainfall season), the fishing is always good and we are all fisherman so at least there is a positive spin-off....... :blue-rolleyes:
