My first and very needed boat!

Hi guys!

I've convinced my entire family after talking mooi and they agreed on giving me R10 000 for my 21st for a bass boat :blue-biggrin: I know its not a lot but i believe i'll be able to get a good boat for that price. I've been been searching gumtree,junkmail and even OLX for the right one. What im looking for is any boat with a trailor and engine and all the right papers. I am probably going to need a inland skippers so im going to have to save for that aswell(does anyone know where i can go for that skippers in pretoria). I would appreciate if you guys could just keep an eye out for me! I know you guys also have a lot of advice so im listening!!

Oh, and you don't need a skippers ticket and spending over R1K up to a 15hp on which you can do quiet well for performance and speed. Many guys on this site can vouch for that boet. Motor size is not relative to fish size............. :blue-rolleyes:

Hahaha thx Rip, i know that you don't need a skippers if your boat is 3m and shorter and if you have a 15hp motor or smaller but i was thinking of getting one because i am planning to upgrade to a bigger boat someday as soon as possible but saving over R1k is always great :blue-biggrin: I will consider ALL the boats i get for R10000! i don't mind what it is or how it looks of if i need a skippers or not as long as i get my money's worth! Im tired of bank fishing!! I forgot to mention that i'll only be buying the boat from middel August because my birthday is in September! But the early fisherman catches the monsters so i posted now! Florie be carefull of boats that just need a bit of TLC I did that and forked out 12000 bucks in repairs but now I got a sweet ride and let me tell you a 15 hp motor is fast enough if you don't overload the boat good luck that boat that rippie showed ther looks pretty solid save a few bucks more and get a good boat.

You can get a lekker boat for 10k. I got this one for 9000, with a great motor and a brand new trailer. Goodluck! Rip posted a nice boat for getting of the bank. If you want something else, just be patient, and check gumtree twice a day.

Think about what you need and make a list. A larger boat may require a fair amount of cash from you each time you have to tow it.I have a small boat 3m (Spider)with a 15hp motor that I use on Knysna Lagoon and a trawling motor on Groenvlei. It is a cathedral hull and stable. With the 15hp motor it goes very fast as it weighs nothing. Also costs me nothing to run or tow. Up here in Gauteng I have a 5M boat that I use on larger dams. Costs are a lot higher for towing and filling up the tank for the outboard. At the coast I use my little Ford Bantam bakkie to tow but here I have no option but to use my Isuzu Diesel.

List:
1. How many of you will fish from the boat?
2. How large a motor do you need?
3. Size vehicle you have to tow?
4. If the boat weighs a lot can you reverse your vehicle in the water?
5. Does the boat have to have a livewell?
6. If you buy a boat in need of TLC can you spend more money on it, or if you sell it later to upgrade will you loose too much?
7. When you find a 2nd hand has it got a trawling motor and battery for this and the outboard if it is electric start or do you have to fork out another R 1500.00?
8. If the trailer has no paperwork brace yourself for big costs and huge headaches trying to get it registered. You may save a few K on the boat because of this but loose more in the long run.

Some guys in the know have been giving you some good advice as well as a reality check as to what a boat might cost you more after you bought it in repairs and running costs.
If you still serious and know what is waiting for you, then go for it.
Alternative, maybe consider getting a float tube or kick boat for now and save up till you can get a boat that will cost more but less in maintenance and/or you be able to afford to run it?

Thats why i usually will ask you guys for help,you really know your stuff!! Thx for all the input guys its going to have a huge effect on my choice! I've been thinking if everyrhing like i need to get a tow bar fitted to my bakkie that will cost me R1500+ and all the paper work and im only looking for a all rounder,ive found many boats i like! The Boat Navrik showed is the EXACT type im looking for! Navrik i checked that boat out and its great,i would have bought it if it only had a registered trailer but it doesnt have a trailer at all! So im going to follow the afvice and be patient and the right boat will come to me! Thx guys
