has anyone here actually nosedived a bass boat at 130 +? Besides these guys?
if you have and (a) you are still alive and (b) your boat is in one piece, then you can suspect the hull having issues.

Most F3 boats do about 140 to 150, when they crash it normally means a hull loss.


when a boat is traveling that fast, and it dives, its pretty much coming to a dead stop.

imagine the G forces involved, a VMAX 250 weighs 250 kilos. under power at 130kmh/h+

From what I can see the inertia of the outboard, especially if the pilot could not pull the throttle back when he went in, Nose dug in at steep angle, motor kept running at full throttle, and broke the boat in half.

Very good point Backmarker. With my history with Strength of Materials as part of my B.Sc Aeronautics Degree I tend to agree that the forces would have been incredible.

As far as the F3 boats is concerned I presume they try and make these boats as lights as possible are I suppose not as strong as a normal family boat.

Backmarker it's so true, never thought of that. At that speed it's like hiiting concrete, don't think any boat would have survived that accept maybe a Ranger. No I don't have one but I am a very big fan of those boats, I think it's the best on the market. :blue-biggrin:

I agree Navrik, when its made paper thin for speed, you cant expect anything else. I still expect to hear sometime that it was a construction problem.

In any event, this thread is going on for far too long without the Manufacturer making their views apparent. I just assume as a result of this, the majority thoughts on construction problems are presumably correct, my 2 cents worth.

Navrik, just as a matter of interest, does anyone know what are the G Forces generated by these Monster Storm Waves which the guy's surf. I've seen some of these Red Bull pro surfers riding these waves down under. I saw this Monster wave hit the guy and suck him in, only to re appear minutes later on the surface, With the Board still in Tact. Interesting Thoughts.

Maritime transport to make Nandoni safer:

A maritime transport safety initiative has been launched at Nandoni Dam by the Vhembe District Municipality (VDM) ahead of the festive season, in order to curb the alarming number of drownings during holidays and weekends.
Unlicensed boats that sink or overturn, illegal fishing and crocodiles are responsible for the most drownings. Speaking on behalf of the MEC for Roads and Transport, Mr Pitsi Moloto, Mr Lucas Manyuwa, who heads technical services in the district, said inland waters form a big share of the challenges in the transport industry, due to a lack of policies that govern them.
These include a lack of inspection of boats, incident and accident management, skill development, budget allocation for inland water-ways and a lack of safety forums to alert people of any impending danger.
“Our intervention is to ensure that every boat that gets into the water is well licenced,” he said. “We’ll also introduce boat monitors, empower a disaster management team and fund careers related to this field, in order to create jobs.”
Asked whether the VDM was going to introduce its own boats to operate on the dam, Manyuwa said “it is being discussed”. The local communities around the dam welcomed the launch of the initiative. “If you live here and witness the incidents caused by faulty boats, you come to realise that it is time for a new approach,” said Mr Given Mathebula, who is the keeper of the picnic site at the dam.
Mr Solomon Matsimbi, a retired teacher who frequents the dam to fish, said he was pleased with the initiatives. “I have never tried those boats for fear of becoming another statistic. However, I might change my view about this with the new initiative,” he said.
