I am Guilty for overpowering my Splash with an 80hp but fortunately or unfortunately it has a bent spline so the best I can get out of her is 60Kph - would love more

My Bass mobile has a 85 Yammie on the back and if I bend down behind the windshield and do not have a 5kg bass in the live well I get 62km/h out of her (GPS speed) :blue-biggrin:

Even at these relatively "low" speeds one still has to be careful and take caution under certain conditions especial on those lakes that you have mentioned Coyote.

Ai Rippie nobody was making fun of surveyors. Go and read all I said under this thread. It ended up with only a small bit of fun. No harm ment to anybody. I was talking about laws for construction of these boats and the right hp suited for each boat. Nothing was said about any surveyors. Don't worry, you are still my friend :blue-biggrin:

Breede, ou maat, rest assured that my frustration wasn't directed at you or anyone in particular. I'm just trying to point out that all combs don't go the same way and from where I come from, it's a thankless job that no-one else wants so it runs pretty close to the nerve endings if you know what I mean! :blue-shock: :blue-lol: :blue-cool:

Ninja, you forgot to mention sunglasses to reduce eyebrow drag which might get you to 64km/h! :blue-biggrin:

The trailer in the picture has a double axle but the marketing says a single axle trailer. The motor dealer specialises in rebuilt yammie outboards and not new motors, perhaps that's how it can be marketed as being cheaper than others. :blue-rolleyes:

do you guys really think it is a bad boat was this not due to human error putting the incorrect motor on such a boat if the same scenario should play out with say a crackleback that is so over powered and hit a wake bad is the same damage not very possible.i think we are badmouthing a boat but it was a ID10T mistake that is why boats get rated not so?

Im new to boating please don't take this the wrong way i get he vibe that these guys never stood a chance they have been nailed since the first day they came along.

Maybe the guy who tried selling them can give us an explanation as to what happened and why the hull broke the way it did and shed some light and do a bit of "damage control"

Ernst, when I read your post it was exactly what I was thinking as well.... We slating a boat when facts are not known....

If you fit a VR6 motor to a Golf1 and leave it with standard shocks and tyres and suspension etc etc etc... Are Golf1's going to have a new one torn when it leaves the road at 250km/h.... nope, the jacka$$ that did the conversion probably will...

I agree with Rip... The wrong approach was made by the guys trying to promote the boat and that has lingered in the back of our minds. Now that we have a bit of an excuse, we out with the pitch forks... Lets wait and see what the investigation uncovers and make a judgement from there....

Ernst and fab. While I agree we should not judge prematurely, my feelings the fact that the boat structurally fail like that has nothing to do with the motor or speed and more about build quality. Some other members seems to feel the same.

If I had a boat like that with the correct motor, I'll still be very worried about this type failure. I'll be cr@pping myself every time a wave comes along and I'm at speed.

I hear you... What I was trying to say is we don't have all the facts...

Say for instance he hit wake at 100 and plenty and got air born and came down nose first and torpedoed that boat into the water... Nobody can tell me for certain that their rig would've come out unharmed as I don't think anybody has had the misfortune of experiencing it... Riding rough water and hitting waves nose on etc is nowhere close to the sudden impact of a dead stop at high speed...

I respect your opinion and that of the other guys who think there may have been a flaw in the design that led to this and you may be right... My point was not to slat the company/make/brand without having proof...

Having an opinion as to what may have happened or caused the incident is different to calling it a cr@p boat and you get what you pay for or they took short cuts etc etc (not comments directed at anybody, just generalising, so nobody take comments personally plz!!)
