No this was an all yellow boat with all the signage and everything, i havent checked for the ad after the accident.

If I read Nav's initial post correctly, they were doing a demo of the boat.

They say bad advertising is good advertising, but this sure takes the cake to a new level.

Just reading on their webpage that they sponsored the Nanondi classic with a hull and trailer to the winners of the event.

Hi Breedesmallie, I here what you are saying and I really don't want to get into another heated debate or disagreement, but how do we determine when a boat is unsafe? Any vessel can become unsafe if the driver doesn't take safety into consideration. For those of us that ride fast boats and have a big engine and do produce results, don't you think it would be unfair to discriminate against those that know what they are doing and only use that speed when absolutely necessary? there are good strong boats built for that speed and yes I know there are a bunch that love that speed, but to be prejudice against those that enjoy their boats because of this incident, where the actual cause is not proven to be related to the motor YET is a bit unfair. I would even go and say that 80% of bass boats have big fast engines and it part of our sport and some of us enjoy a fast ride, I am one and I am not a brag gat. lets wait and see what the actual findings are regarding this incident before we go and blame the motor. there are many vipers and tornados that do those speeds and none have broken like that. My Rebel 532 had a mercury 225 optimax and did 124km, my ranger does 120 and none of the two have broken apart.

Hi Brenden, that is why I said luckily for us most bass boat owners in SA are responsible guys and there is nothing wrong to be a speed freak :blue-biggrin: I must admit, maybe I said this the wrong way. What I ment was that there should be standards and laws in SA that insure safety concerning hp ratings for certain size boats and most importantly spesifications in building them so that they are safe. I like your comment to me :blue-biggrin: And by the way, you've got a Ranger, the best and safest bass boat on the market in my eyes.
I think the law should be in place for guys planning to built bass boats. These days there are to many short cuts to cut costs and so forth, AND LET ME MAKE IT VERY CLEAR THIS IS NOT WHAT I AM SAYING HAPPENED TO THE BOAT IN DISCUSSION.
I like it when people show or tell me when I am wrong, nothing wrong with that.

You guys can make fun of the regs but hey are there for a reason - for the safety of Joe Angler & skier & boozecruiser, etc & from the likes of individuals who put safety second and it leads to a loss of life or at best injury. I am Guilty for overpowering my Splash with an 80hp but fortunately or unfortunately it has a bent spline so the best I can get out of her is 60Kph - would love more
Been on Jozini, sterkies, and Alberts in rough water and have been very wet for my trouble, but never nose dived even without trim n tilt, kinda agree with some of the other guys maybe its hull design ???
But I am no expert and will leave it to the powers that be to find out
Youtube boat crashes and see some of the high powered racing boats break up like paper when they hit the water but alas they are equipped with roll cages to protect the occupants some thing Some Bass boats may need !!

I have been in some very hairy situations at theewaters and on day one of the 2010 interprovincials at albert falls on a relatively small bass harrier with a 135HP( i think) and both times we got soaked but that was all no boats snapping in half etc. I believe that boat size isnt a huge factor but rather the structure of the boat (as most of us seem to agree) as well as the person behind the wheel. wishing the guys who got injured a speedy recovery.
