Fab just because one person have not been robbed at Inanda does not mean there are no crime there!!!!! You guys must face the facts. It's like saying, because Fab dit not catch a big fish at Minini on Saturday there are no big fish there?????

This is an emotive issue not only for Inanda Dam but for all other dams as well and the entire country as a whole? I don?t think anyone is happy with the levels of crime? Goedertrouw is a great dam to fish at but we haven?t been back since the CFC when Gareth-John was there to look after the cars because getting a car guard is just such a schlep. At least at Inanda there are always people around? albeit not everyone we would want there? Is Albert?s safer? Probably yes because there is no location real close? and the access to Albert?s is better controlled? the bottom line is that crime is rampant in SA right now and one has to take precautions everywhere you go including the PAV? I have been safe at Inanda (touch wood) in the year I have been fishing there? but then at the PAV I get pick pocketed. So I would rather camp at Inanda than at the PAV.

Gents I agree with you 100%.... But Norkie you have misread or misunderstood Appels original question and that was",
Hi guys

...A few people has been robbed again at Inanda over the weekend. Does any one know about this or is it just another rumour ? "

Fishton replied that he had been at the dam for the entire week and had not experienced anything nor had he heard anything for the week that he was there!!!!!!!!! That is the only point I was making about the question having been answered!!!! 8O

I know there is crime all around us.... I've had my house broken into twice, me Jetta stolen and written off, my wife in a traumatic smash and grab, my caravelle stolen and recovered... etc etc... I don't dispute that at all and I agree 100%...... There is, has been and will be crime around Inanda.... The question was directed specifically at the past weekend.... 8O :-?

Crime is definitely in control...... it's controlling our country !!

Inanda, Nagle, Alberts and Hazelmere all have dodgy areas to go through in order to gain access to the dam. Hell, a chap was murdered outside Albert Falls towards the end of last year..... Oh ja, the Durbanites would not have heard about that because it was only in the small local paper. It doesn't matter where you go nowadays, you have to be vigilant.... and heaven help you if you take a pot shot at someone and your number plate is recognised!!! The cops will be waiting for you at home before you even get there. I have a firearm, but haven't even bothered trying to re-apply for my license. If you are unlucky enough to have to use it, then it's more hassle than it's worth. Having said that though, I am single with no kids or dependants so for me it's different. If it's my time it's my time but hopefully I'll be able to leave before that day comes. I've been shot at, hi-jacked at 10am on Umgeni road, I've had a dude walk into my house at midday on a Sunday and numerous robberies..... FARK, I had a guy stick a knife in my throat in the terminal at JHB international in 1997 while waiting for international golfers to arrive for a tournament !!

The fact remains that you can bitch and moan about crime as much as you like but things are not going to change overnight. The murder of Dave Rattray has hit international news like no other story and lots of people say they hope this will be the turning point. Believe me, most people will forget about this tragic loss is under 6 months.... that's until someone opens their eyes as to what really happened there.

In a nutshell, I could not have written all that's above and just stated that crime is at it's peak and it's going to be with us for a long time. Nowhere is safe and if you go somewhere and think you are, it won't be long before your lack of vigilance bites you in the butt.

As for "rape, steal, highjack and be corrupt but please do not smoke....", or 'bitch slap' some @$$hole for nearly driving over your children with his boat, then you are really in the $hit!!

It just doesn't make sense.

Lukas we must be careful here now, Shannon might just read this and see we're going off the bassing topic, THEN WE'RE IN K@K AGAIN! Wink
