Hey Guys

For those of you who would be interested at not fishing competitvely too often, I thought it would be a good idea to gather all our Jhb based BFSA members and fish a JHB and surrounds dam once a month, on the last Saturday of the month... Alot of the clubs in Jhb - no disrespect - have quite strict policies and are full of the same stuff Malema is...

We can all club in a couple of bucks, and heaviest (team or individual) catch of the day wins the pot, to keep it interesting, also have a braai and a couple of drinks afterwards, and get to know who fishes where and when, and share some tips and techniques, its supposed to be fun afterall... :blue-razz:

For those that are interested mail me at wamosa_1@yahoo.com and I can start organising for the end of this month... Already have a few guys that thinks its a good idea, so were off to a good start! :blue-cool:

Just my opinion, my bud was in a club this side, and there is more politics, rules and regulations and nonsense over there than in some sections of our parliament... Probably not all clubs, as not all politicians are corrupt, so didn't mean to say ALL clubs are like that - for those of you who wanted to crucify me for saying that - 'Club' maybe not the right description for what I have in mind - lets call it a social get -together once a month... :blue-rolleyes:

You are fully entitled to your opinion but bear the following in mind.

Clubs have a social aspect but also a competitive one. When trophies, prizes and glory are at stake, rules, regulations and "politics" (as you refer to it) are there for a reason and they need to be adhered to. Clubs too are affiliated to mother bodies who have their own rules etc and which are also there for a good reason!
The only way to achieve colours for bass fishing is through the club structures.

Social fishing get togethers, as you propose, is a totally different ball game and I trust you will find enough takers to put this together. Good luck and enjoy.

Thats why I said no disrespect, I fully understand that an organisation has to adhere to rules and structures, I'm all for that, but sometimes some people can take at a little too far... My intention was not to bash clubs, but to say that this would be a more relaxed laid back event, for whoever might have similar experiences as my mate, and who does not belong to any current clubs, or prior fishing commitments. I myself am looking at joining a club this side to fish more competively, but this is one of those things, I want to keep a social event for whoever would be interested! And the only reason I mentioned the 'poltics', is that whoever reads this can think, man this would be a nice idea, and some good fun without having to worry about the whys and hows...

I reckon due to not all the guys having their own boats/kickboats etc, we do a bank fishing outing... send me your details via email: wamosa_1@yahoo.com, and I will keep you updated! :blue-idea:
