Whats everyones thoughts on the Monster Bass Boat from Famous boats?
Might be getting one.

Hello Thumper. Are you getting the big one or the small one? I got the big monster bass boat and im happy with it. The only thing with inflatables is that the wind can become a problem. But other than that i think it is a lekka boat.

Only heard good things so far, but I did hear because of the big pontoons the wind can be a factor. Surely a good sized anchor can fix this??

Are you running a trolling motor or petrol or both?

Hey. Ja a anchor works well. What we do is tie a brick and let it drag behind us to slow us down and keek us straigt and it doesnt get stuck as much as a anchor.

We were using a trolling motor at the back and on the front. Then we got a little 2hp seagull motor at the back wich hellped us to save some battery life and get to spots a bit quicker. But it was a bit noisy so we bought a 8hp yammie for the back and it runs lekka.

That boat will go even better with a 15hp motor. We are looking to upgrade to one in the future.

Which model are you looking at getting? The MK1 or MK2?

One advantage is that both are extremely versatile, so ideal for both small and larger dams. Also, I believe even the MK2 can be stored inside a trailer or large bakkie - so transport won't be such a problem. All you need is a decent trolling motor.

I ahve the big one, i always get the look at Clanwilliam and other comps when i pitched up for comps against the big boats, but for me now it is the perfect boat. i have a 15hp on it an top speed with all the gear i get 40kmh. It is stable, i bought a 2.5kg anchor and it is perfect now. Fits inside nissan np 200 with all motors and gear

thanks for the replies guys.
It has a 5hp 4 stroke suzuki on the back and a 34lb watersnake on the front.
Got a trailer. what does the inside feel like?
Slippery at all and on the nose deck?
Does it have a drain hole at the back in the transam?
@ basser haha, why do you always get the look?
Then, I know one requires a skippers licence for anything larger than a 15hp..
Does this also apply to boat size for example, if the boat is larger than say 3,5m do you need any documentation or is it only the motor size?
Oh and dragonfly, its the big one latest model.

@ Thumper. U get a wood board u put on the inside to make it a hard platform to stand on. Can get slippery if it gets wet. I just bought a piece of carpet and cut it into the shape of the board to fit and put that on top of it. Made a big diffrence.

There are no drain holes on mine. I think it is only the motor size if its bigger than 15hp then you must get a skippers license. I went to get my license anyways so i got it when you want to upgrade to a bigger boat!

Also thought of carpet, Do you get a special kind that worls well with water and does not miff or something? I wonder if any guys have pimped out their monster boats with rod holders and live wells and such. would be interesting to see and get some lekker ideas.
whats it like fishing from on top the nose? pretty solid? how much room is under there to pack stuff?

Hahaha yip im sure you will catch some fish.Just watch out that the hook doesnt shoot out and into your pontoon!!! I used the normal carpet you get in a office. I just let it dry before i put it away.

I just use one of those black containers as a portable live well. With a battery pump.
you can stand and fish from there but i rather stand inside the boat. The boat is very steady if you move around.There is enough room to pack the essential stuff.Like food,coldrinks,rain jacket and so on.

Hey Thumper.
I have a Monster Bass too. I operate it with a 45lbs on the transom. I prefer to stand on the front deck to fish. I also have a black plastic bin as a livewell with a caravan water pump attached to the battery and an overflow over transom from a kreepy crawly hose. I had to raise the livewell with an aluminium frame cos the transom is quite high.

You shouldn't need carpeting (unless you're trying to impress the babes with your shaggy pile Persian Ferahan{that's a type of exotic carpet btw})

The floorboard is coated with a rough textured paint so you shouldn't slip...

The front deck however is a slippery Sonofabiatch with your wet feet - unless you leave your toenails to grow lekker lank for extra grip

I have to agree with Dragonfly's comments on the wind factor.
Because its so big, the Monster gets pushed around by the wind unless you're properly anchored to the bottom.
It was my own stupidity, but I have been pushed into the weeds and not been able to get out using the motor in a fairly stiff wind.
