Just a word of caution.... Take careful consideration of weight distribution..
I noticed you mentioned putting your battery up front with a foot controlled sneaker motor then went on to mention a battery at the back for your motor... You intend to use a 15hp to max 20 hp... Those are pull start and therefore do not require a battery, however, you will need a fuel tank at the rear...
The weight of a deep cycle battery 105Ah is about 32 kgs... Add that to your body weight and standing on the bow of your boat to control your sneaker and you might end up with a nose diving rig. Also traveling with a "heavy nose" might affect your rigs plaining ability...

I'm no expert in boat building but have my own rig and have fished off many rigs... Weight distribution is key to good stability and performance out of your rig!!!

I was planning on fixing the transom as I am worried about the dark patch ,so I was planing to replace it.I am pretty sure as I clean and sand I will come across some gremlins here and there i will just take and tackle them as they come.

As stated earlier watch the weight, centre of gravity. If you put a flat deck on it and it is too high stability will be a big problem. Look at all you think you may need to complete the boat(marine ply, f/glass, resin, motors, batteries, fuel weight when tank is on board, tackle anchor, weight of you and any tag alongs that may join you and all that other k**k we cary normaly) add it all up. Then think about how that may affect how the boat sits in the water.

I did a boat years ago a bit larger than yours did what I thought was going to work for me and then ended up gutting a lot of it and doing it over with weight reductions. :blue-cry:

Before you spend a bass load of cash think what all may cost.

Unfortunately it may be way cheeper to buy one that someone else has done. I know sometimes the reward is in the pride of doing it ones self but $$$$$ and pride must be weighed up.

Griff I get what you say but I don't have R15 000 to go and buy a half decent boat but over the next 15 months I can afford to spend a R1000/ monthly the bonus as you say is the satisfaction and the fact that the boat will be exactly the way I want it.If you understand what I mean.

Finally got the boat in my garage,cleaned it and dropped it into the pool floats well no leaks but the transom is shot :blue-sad: but it needs a lot of work to get it to the standard I want it.i am so excited and amped to get this going need to get the sandpaper and stuff .all an all I'm very happy with it.

Now the restoration begins.
