Inanda Camp Costs

Gerry Bruton the manager of Inanda Dam has asked me to ask the bassing fraternity to email him complaints on the cost of camping at Inanda Dam. The costs are set at head office and he feels (and quite rightly so) that if the pricing was reduced that he would get a lot more overnighters at the dam.

So please put finger to keyboard and send Gerry an email complaining about the cost of camping. His email address is gerald.bruton@Msinsi.co.za

I wish Gerald all the best with this. I cannot see how he is going to get it right to have the cost changed just for Inanda as it is set by Msinsi for all the resorts that they are controlling. Having said that at least he is trying, good luck with it.

Last year I mail a proposal to head office about a reduced (frequent camper cost).

I stated that it is cheaper for me to drive home every night and come back in the morning than it was for me to camp over. (I am then also guaranteed hot water shower and good electricity for charging.) I will not add this part.

I am only after a reduced price for certain sites. Like the unnumbered ones.
I often see that camp site empty. They should also have seasonal prices list.
Half price for winter. ect.

They should also have an e-mail subscription that they can update us on upcoming specials they offer once in a while. They could also inform us on events taking place at the dam.

No response, the silence was deafening. I shall try with Gerry and hope he has more luck. They seem to be moving in the right direction and the launch area and work they have done looks good. Well impressed with Nagle dam too.
The more I learn about fishing the more I realise
how much more I have to learn about fishing.

Another problem with Inanda, whether we like it or not, is that it is situated in the middle of one of the highest crime ridden areas in the world. Not to sure if redusing the cost would help increasing the numbers ......? :blue-rolleyes:

I have a lot of time for Gerry. He is after all one of the few that actually gives a shit and is trying to make a difference. Whether it be water quality, poaching or the camps site issues. :eusa_clap:

Just wish they would put up more signage in the camping area explaining the no wake zone.

The no wake issue is on his agenda and he is trying to raise funds to move the jet skis away from the main site to the bay around from Duzi Point called Breeze Blocks... added to that he is looking for volunteers to police the dam and I'll be sending details out on that issue in the next few days.

BTW Rob I have to admire the pics in your report backs and even these. I know you mentioned a new camera a while back and I am sure you realise it is worth every cent. I am looking at getting a decent camera... we have two digital cameras and both are a bit long in the tooth..nothing worse than having the moment of your life and not being able to capture it perfectly.... cell phones are just not the way for me I must say...

HI Ryanie… most of the pics you see are taken with my waterproof Pentax Opti W20 which I’ve had for a few years… my new camera is a Cannon Powershot SX30IS and is amazing but I very rarely take it with on fishing trips unless there is something I specifically want to shoot. The Pentax does an awesome job and is a simple point and click camera that I can use underwater as well so it’s ideal. Before posting the pics I reduce them to 800x600 pixels and bingo!

Agreed frequent camper miles should be allowed for as it is also cheaper for me to travel home every night.
I will send an email to Gerry
