hi all... fished inanda every weekend on 4 consecutive weekends and have struggled to pull out a fish over 1kg... fished early shallows topwater and weightless, not a touch in 4 weeks on a spinnerbait. moving deeper as the day goes on, fishing drop shot mainly, which is where i have picked up most of my bass. fished from 2 ft to 30. there have been windy overcast days and bluebird skies... have probably pulled out over 60 fish and not 1 over 1kg in the past month.

any1 have advice on early winter bassing and tactics for big fish??? (inanda especially)
thanks :blue-smile:

Hey Mikeyl8

Welcome to the site. I'm sure RobFisher, Jeremy or Ninja could help you out as they all know the waters very well. Otherwise If you check the forums under the Report Back section you will find loads of reports on Inanda. The Ninja knows a few good spots and catches a good pig or two every now and then...

Chat soon and tight lines.
Sometimes the fishing is so bad not even the liars catch anything!!!!

Mikey you are not alone in your misery… Inanda has been rather tough for a while now with a few good days dotted here and there… believe it or not most of my over 1kg bass in the last month have been caught on surface baits in the shallows! And by surface baits I mean frogs in the deep vegetation and then floating flukes in other spots.

The biggest fish I have hooked at Inanda broke me off after running into a deep tree… was fishing a Carolina rig in 25’ of water with a 6” Senko… but this was certainly not a pattern… more like a lucky bite in the middle of nowhere.

In the past I haven’t changed patterns much other than cranking less and fishing a bit slower with my favourite plastics… but the fishing has been so bad lately (at all the KZN dams) that I no longer have a pattern and seem to be looking for a new pattern each time I fish…

Yip you are most certainly not alone we have been scraping the bottom of the barrel, so to speak. It can’t be just fishing pressure as all the dam seem to be having a bad run for almost a year now. :blue-shock:

Norkie has been one of the few lucky buggers with this beauty caught in March

Me, I can only seem to catch the bigger ones after the sun has gone down and back to dinks during day light hours but it is not a given and recently I have even been struggling at night.

We just have to persevere and just have fun and I'm sure the dragon will be back to its former glory.
The more I learn about fishing the more I realise
how much more I have to learn about fishing.

thanks guys... yeah the fishing seems real down and i hope inanda returns to true form... i feel that the right side of the dam from launch spot is extremely clear at the moment, i prefer the more stained water further up the dam...

some great hawgs there Jem :blue-smile:
thanks for replies...great site!

You hit the nail on the head there Jeremy, the key word is lucky. I have not caught a decent fish at Inanda foer over a year (until the lucky one in March)

Welcome mickeyL8. As the guys have been saying, it has been tough for all of us.I'm sure things will come right. Some of my best fish have been caught this time of the year at Inanda. whatever you present, present it slowly. if you think it is slow enough then slow down a bit more.
