Paddock Bass Compo - South Coast

The annual Paddock bass fishing compo is coming up on the weekend of 19 to 21 March. The compo is for bank anglers, kick boats and small boats only and is to be held on 40 farm dams in the area. Prizes worth in excess of R30 000 are up for grabs, with plenty lucky draws. Entry fee is R50 for adults and R30 for children. Camping is available at the Paddock Farmers' Club grounds at R100 per tent or caravan for the weekend. Briefing will be at 19:00 on 19 March at the Farmers' Club. For more information contact Dave Jenkins on 0833250606 or Angus Adie on 0833014791.

The compo has traditionally attracted more than 300 entrants and is a real family outing to most of the contestants. Bring your tent and your family and join in the fun!

Which weather site do you use MissBFSA?

I like the hourly forecast. Only seen one other site that has that feature and that is http://www.accuweather.com

The Paddock Fishing Compo has come and gone in a flash. :blue-cry: This year Team Basstastic 4 improved substantially on last year. Our total bag for the weekend was 8kg. Which gave us a fourth position in the Mixed Team category. Miss BFSA's contribution to this was 3,5kg. She really clapped the manne. :blue-redface: My weight was 2,3kg and one member's contribution was didly squat. We didn't catch any big fiish though, with the largest being 860g. :blue-rolleyes: The biggest fish for the comp was 3,4kg, caught on live bait. :blue-doubt:

We all had great fun and a well deserved rest on Sunday night. Getting up at 4 two days in a row takes it out of you. :blue-sad: Luckily we had Monday to get the energy levels back up.

Looking forward to next year. :blue-razz:

Well done on coming 4th, that's a good result and 8kg not a bad bag.

is live bait even legal at a comp like this.

Unfortunately they do allow live bait in this instance. Its a family compo and not held to the typical rules of serious bass comps. Pity though. Last year the top three bass were all caught on live bait, with the biggest being 4,6kg and caught by a 12 year old. Live bait fishing does not really test one's skill at bass fishing. :blue-doubt:

Congrats to you and MissBFSA for 4th place.
I agree with you about the live bait, its something you do when you go fishing with friends if its your tactic to catch big bass. Maybe its something the organisers should look into?

Well done on the result.

I agree on the livebait issue. I never ever fish livebait, I am too scared of hooking a PB and would really not want my PB on a livebait.
One fish can change it all.....
