Filled the Compartments with closed cell foam today - 30 litres, makes 600 litres of foam.

Update time

Sole panels cut out, then the underneath of them epoxy coated to waterproof them, then glued down to the cleats.
Edges filleted and then glassed over with Biax fibreglass tape, sole panels then coated on top with epoxy for water proofing.

My new Jack Plate



The jack plate has a setback of 125mm and can adjust 150mm in height.
It's called an EZ Lift Jack Plate by Hydro Dynamics and cost me $186, but the shipping was another $150, plus R300 VAT. Still even if I could find one here I doubt I could get it under R4000.[/img]

No I ordered it from <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.pitstopmarine.com">www.pitstopmarine.com</a><!-- w --> they are cheaper than buying directly from HD, but you can if you want. I had no problem getting the delivery. The guy at HD actually refered me to them.

I bought this one because it was nearly $100 cheaper than the other makes and from what I have read on the boating forums it is actually better as well, but I don't think they make the hydraulic versions

I'm thinking along the lines of an ETEC 115hp HO, would love to put a 150 on but I think it would be a waste of money and would negate the idea of the shallow water ability of this boat. The suggested motor for this boat is a 70hp, but I am building mine heavier with all the extra hatches and stuff so the 115 should work nicely.

The guy that designs these boats seems to be a bit on the conservative side when it comes to power, but he was one the designers for Cigarette boats so he is no stranger to speed and power.

That's it for now, in the next week or so I start laying down the decks and building the hatch lids. Then it will start really looking like a bass boat.

Apart from my other duties the reason this part is taking so much longer is that I am no longer following any plans. This is all genuine fabricating and takes a lot more time to plan than to actually build.

A cooler box that actaully has some decent and sufficient insulation !! Who would have thought that would be useful on water :blue-rolleyes: Great job Shannon, you can keep my drinks and I'll just collect one from you every hour and a half.... :blue-sad:

These are the seemingly small details that make a boat either a joy or a pain to own and I think this will be a pleasure to have parked in your driveway. Looks very good so far.

Well I've officially run out of steam and have done almost nothing on the boat for the last week.

Just popped the deck panels on the boat to see what it looks like. The back deck is not ply I still need to get the last sheet.

You'll notice that the gunwale on the starboard side is narrower than the port side, I've done this for 2 reasons - The starboard side needs the extra clearance for the engine controls and I wanted the Port side nice and thick, so that rods can be layed on it for the angler fishing off the rear deck.

The plastic chair is just there to give an idea of size, it will not be used on the boat.





I still have a fair amount of work to do inside the hatches before I start on the hatch lids.
SWMBO has given me permission to work the Easter Weekend on the boat

I wrote a list out the other night of what I still need to do on the boat and it's still huge 8O , I now understand why guys take 2 to 3 years to build their boats
