I was there as a kid (a long time ago in the 70's), we used to ski at Chicamba, the presence of some large crocs didn't worry us back then, we though we were imortal. As far as I can recall there is some lekkeer structure, loads of drowned trees, drop-offs and points. It is a bit like a small Kariba if that makes any sense, very similar in feel and structure.

I have often thought that it would be a great bass water, it seems as though it is by the size of the fish that you mention.

I've also read a study done on the fish species in Chicamba, and there are LOADS of baitfish!
If Mteri closes I'm definately going to Chicamba!

There is a member on this site (who hates Loskop :blue-biggrin: ) that's been to Chicamba recently. I believe he caught fish the size that you mention... :blue-question:
Let's wait and see if he responds to your inquiry!

Look for this months issue of Bass Africa mag. All the info you require will be in there. Yip there sure are some big fish in that lake. There was a tourney there this past week end.

2 x 15lb+
3 x 14lb+
2 x 13lb+

Awaiting the official results. It was a 3 day comp. 7 fish per boat per day. Gerry Jooste had a first day bag of 66lbs. Falcon Lake cant even come close. So so so. :blue-badgrin:

And as for you 2 little peanuts. My toilet bowl still has more bass than LOSKOP. :blue-evil:

Perhaps the constant mention of your toilet bowl gave him ideas! :blue-badgrin:

Justy I read the article in Bassafrica, it sounds as though the roads are good, how about fuel en-route through Zim or did you have to carry your own? Is diesel available (also in Moz) and what about unleaded fuel for outboards?

The roads are fine. And fuel is not a major issue. Just make sure you got enough to get through zim. Maybe take some spare. Once in moz all is available.
