SAPS Boat Theft

You may recall in an earlier post I raised the issue about "Boat Registration" and the monitoring of boats in the event of theft etc.
I have just learnt the following from the SAPS Waterwing.
They are now in the process of capturing ALL boat information on a central database using the information provided by Boatowners during Registration for the COF,
This includes :
Motor details serial no etc
Boat details...and Buoyancy cert no
Trailer details
They recoverd a boat that was stolen in Gauteng down in PE within a few days as the owner had provided details at the COF.
They have also cracked a syndicate dealing in boats headed by a white woman. They have also recovered boats down in Cape Town stolen here in Gauteng.
I have seen the fotos of some of the recovered items
Big Boats on double axle trailers...You would not think someone would have the balls to steal something this size :blue-doubt:

We constantly hear and read so much negative press about the SAPS, it's great to hear something positive like this. Despite the low-life scumbags that are no doubt abundant in that once proud organisation, things like this show that there are still a good few dedicated and honest cops.

A well deserved pat on the back for them.

I met a Captain in the police on a hunting trip a while ago, who tried selling us stolen boats and Jetskis. I could get two proper 1200 jetski's with trailers for sixty grand. This guy would sell his wife for the right price.

Now that sounds more like the "new" SAPS that we have become accustomed to :blue-sad:
