Hi All, my name is Jacques and I'm a Bassaholic. I'm 39 yr old, Afr speaking and live in Pretoria so please look past my spelling and grammar mistakes. I am a 24/7 PA, Cook and bodyguard. Divorced (plenty years ago) with no children.

I love Bass fishing more than anything. It all started 15 or so years ago when I dated a girl whose parents lived in Vanderbijl Park. When we went on annual holyday in November every year, I got to fish the Vaal at what was known as the “Pomp Stasie". I saw this bloke casting his "pap" and retrieving and casting and retrieving.....and so on, obviosliously he new nothing about fishing. Surely you must let your pap rest until the fish bites. Too scared to ask thinking that he escaped from the loony bin. I asked about this strange behaviour at my favourite tackle shop called Folksie Spares.

I was introduced to Bass Fishing and bought my first kit, a cheap rod; closed mouth real and a few strange looking spiny thingies. I WILL NEVER FORGET WHEN MY FIRST BASS EXPLODED OUT OF THE WATER. I still get Goosebumps thinking about it. I WAS HOOKED! I fished that stretch of river for about five years, my biggest fish 1.8 kg. That photo is my most prised possession to this day.

Lately I don’t get to fish much since there’s not a lot of bank fishing spots that I know of, near Pretoria (you have to have the right contacts to fish on private waters around Pta, Cullinan and Bronkies).

Every now and then an opportunity comes knocking though.
My love for the sport is immeasurable and I watch all the shows on TV. Well that’s my story. Look out for a guy with a big weathered looking Bowie knife strapped to his leg and say hi. TIGHT LINES ALL. :blue-redface:
