Email I got from Peter Gilmore (see his title below)

Dear All, further to your participation in the Inanda Dam Resource Management Plan, we intend not letting the "water" get too cold before we see some implementation.

Our meeting held with the KZN Department of Sport and Recreation today yielded possitive results. The department is extremely possiive about the intitiatve around the dam and will soon be conveying our proposals to the MEC's office. It was suggested by the department that we convene a one or two day workshop this year with all sport clubs and federations that have shown interest in the dam so far. The purpose would be to prepare a holistic plan for the establishment of sport/club facilities and implementation of development sport develpoment programme that would involve schools and local communities and also define what role and support the department would play in this programme.

However, in saying this it was stressed that the department, due to public finance management legislations, are only able to financially assist sport Federations/Associations that are fully representative of a particular sport in KZN. Unfortunatley single clubs are deemed to be commercial operations and would thefore not benefit directly from this support. It is therefor imperetive that certain sport codes such as Water Ski, Bass Fishing, sailing and canoeing, just to mention a few examples, organise themselves into a single body (if not done yet) should they whish to participate in this intitaive.

Your views on this matter is welcomed which could further be discussed at our feedback meeting of the 10th October.
