Good day ladies and gentlemen,

1. Attached find the approved copy of the new SASACC Constitution.

2. We would like to bring the following aspects to your attention:

a. The Constitution came to effect as from 1 April 2016.

b. It is suggested that you take note of the following aspects in the constitution:

i. CHAPTER 2 – THE CONFEDERATION AS AN ORGANISATION

ii. CHAPTER 3 – MEMBERSHIP OF THE CONFEDERATION

iii. CHAPTER 4 – NATIONAL COUNCIL

iv. CHAPTER 6 – COMMITTEES

v. CHAPTER 7 – GENERAL

c. As a standard practice, a member of SASACC may not have a constitution which contradict or exclude aspects of importance as contained in the SASACC constitution. To assist all the Federations and Associations with this, the Mancom of SASACC are in the process of finalizing a National Federation/Association Constitution Template. This will enable you to add into to template aspects which are unique to your disciplines and obviously your names where applicable. We are intending to have it as a discussion point on the upcoming AGM of 2016 for approval.

d. The Mancom are also finalising the draft constitution for the Provincial SASACC’s. We are intending to have it as a discussion point on the upcoming AGM of 2016 for approval.

3. We are well aware of the fact that your Federation or Association has a constitution, which might be historically part of the structure and we do not want to have you to lose your identity, but it is a matter of good governance that all the members’ constitutions are in line with the guidelines.
