Hi All

Its that time of the year again when I get an itch that needs to be scratched (no funny guessing here allowed... :eusa_whistle: )

I'm busy with another Pay It Forward campaign where by I have amassed around 100 packs of plastics again and so far 1 spinning rod (Thanks Rory) and a spinning reel. My plan this time round is to try separate them into 5 grand packages comprising of around 20 packs of plastics, a rod and reel each, some line and perhaps a few hooks/sinkers etc. Basically an all in one starter pack, so to speak.

I know its a little late for the christmas cheer, but if all goes well I'll be aiming for hand out in Mid Jan to early Feb next year.

This time round to allow for people to assist from various parts of the country, I'd like to nominate a few people to assist me (If I may?) Here goes:
I'm now based in Jhb so thats an easy one
Rip for Eastern Cape
Navrik (Rob) for Western Cape
and maybe if Ninja or Jeremy in KZN be willing to assist me from there? :eusa_pray:
My idea is that any willing donators in those respective area's please send your unwanted goodies to the named guys above, I will then in turn liaise with them to get it sent to me up in Jhb. I'll then allocate the packs for sorting and then re-send to the less fortunate people that will be selected. They can be from anywhere in the country, I'll pay for the courier to deliver direct to their door

In the past, I've always shy'd away from donating these P.I.F packs to juniors, main reason being is they have parents to support them, but I think this time round we should open it up to ANY one that is less fortunate and deserving of the parcels. (perhaps have criteria that they need to post their first outing as a report back here)

So, the big question again is: Are there any willing donators out there that can contribute to the bigger cause? I'm looking for unwanted rods, reels, spools of line, hooks, sinkers. Honestly, I have enough plastics, but if you wish to donate your (not so often used) plastics then I'll gladly accept them too. Any fishing caps/hats, branded shirts etc will also be greatly accepted for the packs.

Please guys, go home this evening and whilst you're staring aimlessly at your tackle drinking a cold beer tonight, please have a look see what you dont use and consider to donate it that I can add to the P.I.F parcels.

Jimbob, as full of K** as you sometimes can be boet you have a heart that comes from heaven and you know that.

I volunteer for the E. Cape as I've been involved a few times before with the PIF campaign of yours. We have time on our side this time. I've just recently donated a Garmin sounder off my boat to a Jnr and the appreciation was heartfelt and well...... a little humbling even though I don't have much to give.

The recipients will be determined how Jim?

Thanks for the email last night, and for helping from the EC area too. I know I'm a sh*tstirrer from time to time but someone has to be the village idiot...

How do we determine the recipients? I dunno to be honest, and I'm hoping that the members could shed some idea's as to how we determine things. (Anyone with suggestions?) ((@ Andy - not sure if its possible, but could you stick this thread to the top of the page somehow?))

In the past we relied on the members to propose a recipient. The first chap was nominated by Jm - this guy is a father of 3 little girls, and of course they loved to fish. Jm met him at a pond somewhere in Durbanville one day and got his details. It turned out that Brett was a divorced father, and sadly at that time had lost his job and was struggling to make ends meet. When he came round to my house to collect the goodies, share a few beers and chit chat, you could see that it was going to the right person. The funny thing was, that although he too liked fishing, the kit actually ended up being used by his 3 kids and he was just the guy that had to tie the hooks on from time to time.

The second recipient was nominated by Smurf. He was a local angler from Clanwilliam (works at Rooibos tea actually) that had a small boat held together with chewing gum and tape. In the weeks leading up to a Money trail comp at clan (which he entered) his house got raided by chaps with long fingers and stole all his prized yet small collection of rods and tackle. The timing - for us - was perfect as we had gathered 3 rods again and a whole bunch of tackle. I met with him on the friday evening before the comp at clan to hand him the parcel. Lo and behold on saturday the bugger ended up hogging my favourite spot on the dam for the day... It was great to see him actually take part in the comp that he almost missed out on.

So getting back to the original question, I'll leave it up to the members as to determine who and how recipients are chosen.

PS: I now have a baitcasting rod too. Maybe an additional one if I can find a sponsor for a micro guide eye for the tip (so now 3 rods in total, 1 spinning reel plus plastics)
