Berg River Fishing Spots?? - FishingMommy - 01-06-2015
Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there are any spots along the Berg River after the tunnel trough to Ceres that you can stop, walk down and fish the river? Or is it all privately owned? Also wanted to know if there are many fish in the river. I was thinking it could be a nice change.

As for the Berg river, I cant say much about Ceres, but there is fish in the Berg river in general if you find the right spots.Good luck

On which road is this tunnel to Ceres you speak of? Are you not referring to the Huguenot tunnel to Worcester?

Thank you for all the information. I just need to ask - is there any places that is not just catch and release, where you can actually keep your trout if you so wanted to? Things have changed a lot since I was a kid.....

FM - are you the "fisherman" or is it your kids? - and how keen are they? - and does your husband get involved in the bassing thing?
If you are only fishing from the bank, Pietmans in Villiersdorp will at least give the kids a chance of pulling a bigish bass - and I know Pietman wouldn't mind.

There are a few places that are put and take trout fisheries eg. Du Kloof Lodge, Eikendal, Houwhoek Farm Stall, Vaalvlei. However, this can become quite expensive (R100/kg) Also, at this time of the year it's too hot for trout in the stocked ponds so normally this is only viable during winter.

Hi Bombastic, pic is my daughter. She enjoys it, but my son is VERY keen. Take him fishing at least once a week or he drives me insane. All he wanted for his 7th birthday is a new rod and real, and a keepnet!!! Other kids at party thought he crazy. Some bigger fish will really give him a boost, as he catches a lot but all under 1kg. O and I love Bass fishing as well so we make a nice team. Thanks
Hi Buzz, yes and I am not fond of that stocked small dam trout, they are way too easy to land and my son caught 7 on his birthday last month at Eikendal. Was a expensive trip.
