Lost and found at Applethwaite - Marmaduke - 11-10-2014
I was last to leave Applethwaite and picked up a set of flippers and a hat. PM me if they are yours.
We also found some beer bottles and sandwich wrappers. Sorry but can’t return those as we threw them away in the bin not 3m from where they were lying.
Seriously guys is it that hard to bin stuff?? If I owned a place like that and found litter lying around I certainly wouldn’t invite the people back again.
I lost 2 pairs of neoprene socks at Phillips last weekend and believe one of the kids there lost his ipod. If anyone picked them up a PM would be appreciated

That makes one wonder why farmers don't want anglers near their dams anymore. One or two people leaving their kak behind and all other anglers pay the price.

Thanks Craig for a quick clean up.It was one of the special requests from the farm management to remove your litter and all it takes to tick them off is a handful of rubbish lying around.

Hi Craig, had a look after you left. No I Pod found at Pietman dam, sorry. I think he may be forgot it on the vehicle roof and it fell of later.

I did a sweep before I left Phillip's dam and nothing obvious was left behind. (5:30ish) [Always leave a place better than you found it.]

hi marmaduke thanks for the cleanup that you did.I unfortunely had to go and show someone my car and when I got back I did not look around.Guys this is a very sad state .Lets not break the relationships that we have buildt up whit farmes by littering.Take a packet with you and take the rubbih home :eusa_whistle:

I'm with u Breedesmallie - I've had the best kept secret farm dams lost because of guys pretending to be who they're not and then the farmers just say: sorry boet daar gaan jy - julle is almal dieselfde!
And then they call themself professional bass anglers! GATVOL!

This illustrates the post I made in February about litter.
This was purposefully left there by an individual or 2, and they will be the 1st ones to complain when Applethwaite is shut off to the general public :blue-question:

The R20 was paid by 1 of the first 15 entries I'm sure by process of elimination I can narrow it down to a few names. But to the a- hole that did it be sure ill be watching you got away with it this time.

Are you saying that someone paid a R20 instead of a R200 for entry fee? Surely the onus is on the person receiving the money to verify that an oke has paid the correct amount just as much as the same onus is on the payee. I get the impression that should it be a mistake, it passed through two hands unnoticed?
Secondly, if perhaps it was unintentional, how can this be linked to the litter left at the dam? The pairs of litter tell me it was a couple who shared the beers and sarmies and were probably traveling together.......
I would like to relate a true story from my grandfathers days: Everyone travelled on horseback most of the time and one Christmas a guy walked into a local trading store and asked to buy a saddle which was situated on the top shelf. The shop was moer busy and an assistant was assigned to bring down the saddle to give to the client. The owner, knowing the patron well, said he will send the invoice as he was too busy right now. There was trust and honesty in those days you see.
Nonetheless, a few weeks later the owner couldn't remember to whom he had sold the said saddle and through a process of elimination, he ended up invoicing 54 guys for the saddle, trusting that the purchaser would own up and pay........guess what, 18 guys paid for that saddle without questions asked!
