KWT Bassmasters - Tagged Fish Competition - Kassie - 02-05-2014
The 3rd Annual KWT Bassmasters Tagged Fish Competition got off to a cool start with a strengthening westerly wind putting some sizeable waves on the Wriggleswade Dam and causing many competitors to look for fish in any sheltered waters they could find.
The object of the competition is to try and catch one of the many tagged fish in the dam with the allocation of prizes centered on the tagged fish caught. Unfortunately, no tagged fish were brought to the scales this time around nevertheless; the prizes were awarded to these untagged fish in order of weight. The funds raised from this competition are used to provide financial assistance to our club’s Gold and Red Card members in their quest to obtain Provincial and National honours in bass fishing.
The competition attracted 29 entrants from around the Border region ranging from complete novice juniors to battle-scarred experienced old “pro’s”. Some say, “Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement!” Well this proved to be true as old (read-experienced) warhorse Duane Bennett beat off all the contenders and managed to convince the heaviest bass (out of 42 fish weighed) of the day to accept the offering of a “CBC” rigged black red-flake fluke in the area around Dick’s farm house and earning himself a 4-in-1 printer, scanner, copier fax machine to the value of R4000.00 from NRG Office Solutions in Vincent, East London!

Well done Kassie and to your club. Sorry I missed it but I sent my son in my place. It would appear that the good old Dr Bennett is not about to go shark fishing just yet....
I heard he is trading the copier for some crucials. Lekka report.

Tell me, are the banks still lined with Hyacinth. Has the Broken cable been fixed upriver, As you can see I'm from Gauteng. last March the hyacinth spoiled the fishing ( imho)

If I may oh loyal one. The cable is in place and some time back, a chopper spent two days spraying the hyacinth which although is much better than your last visit, is starting to spread again and the wind swings it whichever way. The authorities are being attacked in this regard especially since it is supposed to be a zero tolerance zone but you must bear in mind that it is an election year and either jobs are being safeguarded or energies are elsewhere......
so, it is better and there are still fish in the hyacinth and if you like I can arrange for some pics to be posted for you to view??
