Jetties jetties... - Scottydog - 08-29-2013 Ok chaps just a couple of opinions here...So I've bought a place a dam worth 15mil(I WISH)it's got the deck over the water where I braai and entertain I've had 3 space age jetties built with a Skeeter in each etc etc.The bass love swimming around here...What are the rules/etiquette with regards to fishing in/around these area's at our dams :blue-confused: - Riprap - 08-29-2013 The guys that frequent Harties and the Vaal should advise. - Jim_From_Zim - 08-29-2013 Be careful of throwing cranks next to the jetties at Harties and at the Vaal. Some of the jetties have the electric or hydraulic boat lifting ramps next to them, and the cables run quite shallow from the poles to the lift. Some owners have asked me in the past to not cast between these two items as they were scared I'd hook a cable. Makes sense to me to respect the wishes. Otherwise, just go ahead and pitch them (next to the poles, or under the flooring) with a texas rig, or weightless or try with a deep diving crank across the front of the jetty. Most people at Harties will ask how your day is going, and be stunned into silence if you catch a fish off their jetty. Also, at Harties some of the owners fish for carp off their jetties, so just respect that they also have lines in the water and go around their lines not over or under. - frikster - 08-29-2013 People do not own water, they can not chase you away if you fish his jettie,but respect comes to mind,they you and you them, then it works! - bassmaster - 08-29-2013 Most jetties only hold fish if they have structure near by and if they have cross brasses under them between the poles... just poles holding up a jettie often does not hold fish. Just hard to see underwater sometimes to check for the cross braces!! hahahaha :blue-cool:
