Caught a Bass - Guest - 11-08-2006 Yesterday i knocked off a bit early from work and went to my local dam. Fishing over lunchtime proved unproductive. The wind was howling at my normal fishing spot. Decided to move around the dam so that I would be a bit more protected from the wind. The water is quite shallow there for quite a distance so I removed the shoes and rolled up the work pants. Walked in for about 6 or 7 m and then started casting. Had a white fly with a orange head on top and a San Juan worm at the bottom. On about the 3'rd cast a medium sized bass took it and I brought it out. After that only small ones took the flies. Got 2 with one cast. Right after I released them I caught 2 Blue Gills with one cast and a few minutes after that a Bluegill and Small bass also on one cast. I posted a 2 pictures in the Small Mouth Gallery. It kicks ass. Was able to cast more than +-20m into the wind. I went to try it out quickly for 10 minutes but the wind at the dam was howling. I moved to another spot that was a bit more protected. On my 3'rd cast I caught a nice size bass on a Fly that I made myself from a pipe cleaner dyed red and a bead. A Massive San Juan worm. about 6 or 7 cm long. Fish took the fly at my feet. So much for distance casting....
