Barometric Pressure - Dvdw - 02-07-2010
Hi
I am still learning about bass fishing and have a question. I fished Mogoldam this weekend with a friend (he fish Cast of Cash), having a Casio watch indicating barometric pressure. On Friday we had a good day of fishing, but to the afternoon it got slower. He indicated to me the pressure is start dropping. On Saturday the fishing was tough, with no real change in the weather, water temperature or boat pressure on the water. The barometric pressure dropped further on Saturday. According to internet info (in USA), barometric pressure has an effect on bass fishing. My question: What is the experience in SA on barometric pressure and when is good fishing conditions and not?

I have heard a falling Barometer is the best conditions. It makes sense,
a high = blue bird skys = tough fishing
a low = cold front = tough fishing
a falling barometer means the cold front is on its way so time to eat before it does.
Ag who am I kidding, high, low, falling, rising all = tough fishing, well thats only for me of late :blue-badgrin: :blue-biggrin:
I do use robs site to check it though.

The weatherman predicted rain for RDW pm as well. He was wrong. It was hotashell
The two small crocs were enjoying the sun though. One at the weir and one furter up river just past croc bay.
Seems mama croc has been busy and hatching de eggs.Piet Hattings partner caught it. These chaps are cheeky and wont let go. Not afraid of the boat either.
And yes there were people waterskiing and tubing in the main dam

It is not always a drop in pressure that will ensure that the fish will come on the bite.
What has proofed to be factual, for me that is, is a sudden and sharp drop from a high. Almost every time that it happens and I'm on the water the fishing was great. :blue-cool:

My best day was also a sharp drop in BP with cloud cover already present with VERY light rain.
