Seasons of the old BASS!!!
So when EXACTLY can we look out for seasons... I mean, Fall (before winter etc)is easy enough, but the the spawning seasons post or pre still confuse me.
Could someone put it into persepctive and month for me. Im sure im not alone, Im thick thats why im asking.
You can have a look at american sites but they work differently because obviously their patterns differ.
Are they Roughly the same in SA as in Nam, i think so.
come on, give us some tips.

Sdog, I’m might be wrong here but according to me its something like this ..
Pre spawn -Aug to Sept,
Spawn - Sept to Oct
Post spawn will be Oct – Nov
This might change according to water temp and stuff .. and also remember not all fish spawn at the same time so there will be fish in a post spawn pattern where some will still be in spawn and the same goes for the pre spawn.

Spawning takes place from August right through to December, depending on dam location and water temps and prevailing weather.
The fish come up in waves, normally with the biggest fish coming first.
All the spawning activity is based on the lunar cycles.
Pre-spawn would be the weeks before a full moon, Spawn is the 2 or 3 days surrounding the full moon, Post Spawn is just after full moon.
Fish apparently do spawn on the New moon as well.
It's not uncommon to have a mix of pre-spawn and post-spawn fish in a dam at the same time, especially if there are areas in the dam with different water temps.
The exact water temp is not that important (around 16C), it is the warming trend that is important

Shannon you mention warming. like in nam bru, its hot dude. Really hot. (WEll i suppose all over at the moment!!) would that just bring everything on a little quicker??

If you have a warm weather spell for a week or two before the full moon it will get things going, but I am talking of coming out of winter here. Your fish have probably all finished their spawning by now.

Bear in mind that the fish in the northern hemisphere will start their spawn in Feb already (in warmer places like Florida), You gonna have to wait for Aug/Sept this year.
