Just as a matter of interest, do any of you take cognizance of the moon phases? Having been taught the art of fishing by my dad and he in turn by his, the phase of the moon played an important role. Not that it made too much difference whether we fished or not, but he was able to say before the time that if would be a poor, good or excellent day. I see that on most bass sites, including this one, the phases are present, however there is very little talk about them.
Of course there are other factors to consider when wanting an optimum fishing experience, but for now I just interested in what the folks have to say about the moon.

Hi George. I know that it does play an important role in the fishes behaviour, however I tend to Ignore it and will fish whenever I can.
I have had excellent fishing trips when the charts tell you to stay at home and visa versa I have had awful ones when I should be getting sore thumbs from all the fish.

I try and fish every Saturday morning no matter what the moon or the weather is doing? if I was retired and could fish every day I may take the moon into account. But the moon does affect my wife so I watch it for that!

Hi Guys
Just read another book. "Hannon's Big Bass Magic" I wish I can post his
chapter on "There is Magic In The Moon".
According to his studies, it indicates that most record fish catches are
clustered within 3-4 days of the dark moon or the full moon. The few
not there seem to fall exactly halfway in between - right on the half moon.

Personal experience and from late father in law's competition journals from years gone by he mentions the same thing. '3rd day afetr full moon....not alot of fish but his pb did improve almost every time" provided the venue holds big fish.
The next gauteng get together is on the 3rd day of full moon.. hope late father in law was right?

Coincedence or myth. Look at the middle section of the Tight Lines mag. two nice fish were caught during full moon, comment at one picture...3rd day of full moon. RDW here we come.

I don't think its the boats running round that give them lockjaw, I think its all the baits they see that makes it hard for them to decide what they want to eat!

I will also get lock jaw if you present me with a hamburger with a steel suspension, rattles or no rattles i will not touch it and even less when 100 hamburgers gets dragged passed my jaw every hour or so.
