Normally its not juniors who are the problem. A very few farmers I know will not let a junior not fish his dams. The problem is the guys who don't ask and then when finished fishing leave all his kak behind. I saw it first hand how some people just go in on private land, fish for the day, have a braai and just leave all his rubbish on site for other people to clean after him. I know a lot of farmers who don't worry if juniors wants to fish their dams but grown ups ?

Well said Jacq and also very true Breede.
We have an out of the way property with 2 lovely bass dams and the previous owner (who is not a bass fisherman) used to allow all and sundry to fish there whenever.
Once we controlled it, people (adults) used to sneak on to fish, leave their crap there and even steal newly planted flowers and trees until my ol' man put up a sign on the farm: "No fishing, don't even ask"!

And guess what.........it buggered it up for those few who were responsible people.

I would like to start off by highlighting all the legitimate points you made.

@Toadee, I understand that my comparison was a bit overboard. I understand your point that the choice is between following the law or breaking it.

@TheBee, I understand the thread more now. I was not aware of what facebook post this was about. And I still dont know. But now that I know it was at DK it widens my opinion a little bit. I agree that its not 100% justifiable to fish at DK. Just a question? Did the anonymous fisherman leave a mess or made noise? Also did he face the consequences himself when they chased him away or did he not listen. I understand your reasoning behind anonymous putting a piece of the bass community in bad light though.

@Jacq Thanks for backing me up on this one. Also thanks for the picture you took at Divisionals that is now my avatar Smile

I would never say no to an offer to go fishing.

All in all I think some very legitimate points has been made and I respect everybody's opinion. Its just not always possible to follow the rules if you want to go fish.

I must ad that it is the pap gooiers who are the big offenders and not so much the bass lovers.
