In the past we relied on the members to propose a recipient. The first chap was nominated by Jm - this guy is a father of 3 little girls, and of course they loved to fish. Jm met him at a pond somewhere in Durbanville one day and got his details. It turned out that Brett was a divorced father, and sadly at that time had lost his job and was struggling to make ends meet. When he came round to my house to collect the goodies, share a few beers and chit chat, you could see that it was going to the right person. The funny thing was, that although he too liked fishing, the kit actually ended up being used by his 3 kids and he was just the guy that had to tie the hooks on from time to time.

The second recipient was nominated by Smurf. He was a local angler from Clanwilliam (works at Rooibos tea actually) that had a small boat held together with chewing gum and tape. In the weeks leading up to a Money trail comp at clan (which he entered) his house got raided by chaps with long fingers and stole all his prized yet small collection of rods and tackle. The timing - for us - was perfect as we had gathered 3 rods again and a whole bunch of tackle. I met with him on the friday evening before the comp at clan to hand him the parcel. Lo and behold on saturday the bugger ended up hogging my favourite spot on the dam for the day... It was great to see him actually take part in the comp that he almost missed out on.

So getting back to the original question, I'll leave it up to the members as to determine who and how recipients are chosen.

PS: I now have a baitcasting rod too. Maybe an additional one if I can find a sponsor for a micro guide eye for the tip (so now 3 rods in total, 1 spinning reel plus plastics)

Hi Rip

Its been a bit slow, tad busy at home and at work lately. But its trickling along slowly.

I now have 2 spinning rods, 1 spinning reel and still about 100 packs plastics. Its great to hear you have some goodies. What reels do you have? Baitcasters or spinning? If you have 1 baitcaster in the in the mix, I have a rod that I will get the tip eye replaced to add to the list.

I think its best if we make a cut off date, say 10th March. This will then give us enough time to ship the goodies to one central point, split into gift packs and find suitable candidates. We can hand the packs out beginning of April. Sound good for you?

@ Nav: Hows your side looking?

The reels are all sound but need a good cleanup and service. I unfortunately won't get round to doing that by our Classic. Sorry.
