Everyone has their own secret retrieve, lure, honeyhole etc...

Id like to hear some of them, obviously you can generalise if you dont want to give too much away...



My personal "gauranteed" style is what i call speed worming.

setting the scene:
there has been a period of prolonged drought or at least an extra long
and dry, summer. the water levels have dropped right down and the
vegetation (grass mainly) has grown below the high water mark.

then a deluge, flood or similar raises the water level, stains the water a milky white colour. most people consider this one of the hardest times to catch Bass. I LOVE it!
Yes the fish are more spread out, but finding them is easy if you know how.

Tackle: Casting outfit with relatively strong line, preferrably braid.
single 4'0 offest gamagatsu bass hook threaded into any dark coloured paddletail worm, the bigger the tail the better. my favorite is berkley power worm original or manns mannipulator in junebug or black/red

NOTE: no sinker/bullet weight or splitshot! -and thats why its better to use braid due to the lighter casting weight.

retrieve: Cast into the bank from tha boat -as close in as you can.. right into the slush and thick weed is good, then use a medium fast retrieve - like using a rapala, - usually after about 3-4metres you will start to notice the fish begin to follow you, kurper, nembwe, bass , barbel, yellowtail everything will be interested but you will find more often it will be the Nembwe or the Bass that absolutley BASH your worm..

its exciting fishing and is most effective immediatley after or during the floods!

if your not comfortable using softbaits then you can use alternatives..
in zim they make a spinner we call a willowleaf or macllwaine special.
its a single wire with red beads running down and a single willowleaf balde in gold or silver (i prefer silver=more flash) and a spring to keep the single hook from sliding up the shank... this used with the same retrieve is also deadly! (kurper love em too!)- beware though it is a light lure and can only be used with spinning gear.
Also timber doodles, buzzbait sor shallow running spinnerbaits are fairly effective. but they just dont have that BASH factor that i love when speed worming!

Ok, how many of you would agree with me and say that the next SA record willor could be broken with a Swimbait? And do you ever fish them seriously, like for the whole day! or at least very often?

Can you guys please tell me,those of you who have purchased goods over the net from the pro shop how it works.What are the shipping costs,how the exchange rate works via your credit card and how do they know what shipping company to use for your order to reach South Africa,how long it takes before it reaches our shores i also see when you place an order they ask for two addresses one of them being a shipping address a presume that is ones physical address in South Africa.Please Advise as i am verry wary when it comes to paying large amounts of money to off shore based companies?????

I was wondering how all the bass fanatics would feel about bass fishing t- shirts with verry cool designs that are own to us bass fisherman in south africa pictures of bass striking flukes,cranks,topwaters just to name a few with cool slogans,and what would u guys be willing to pay for such a t-shirt?

Hi everyone

Well at the end of the first Bassmaster Raffle Challenge I came out tops after a hard days fishing at Rust De Winter. I won with 3 fish to VX70's 2. The fishing was tuff but we all had a great time. Thanks again guys, make sure you read the article on the home page for all the details!

Hi Guys

This got almost nothing to do with actual bass fishing but I would like to
know what you are using to tow your boat. I have a Jeep and only towed
ones a boat with it from Amanzimtoti to Inanda Dam and I can tell you
this, it?s sucks the juice and up that hill from the Dam it?s even worse,
got a lot of power though when you put your foot down :wink: .
I was too scared to check what my fuel consumption was 8O .
What do you guys use?
