Good day all
I am looking to upgrade my one fishfinder. What is the best fishfinder you can buy for about R5000.00?
Or is there maybe someone out there who would like to sell a good second hand one??

Any help will be appreciated.

Howzit Phalabass,

I recently went through this on a similar budget. Ended up with the Lowrance Elite 4 Chrip. Downscan, built in GPS and chirp. Best price I could find came from John at Fishtec <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.fishtec.co.za/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.fishtec.co.za/</a><!-- m -->.

Here is a nice site to review.

Hi Phalabass

The best bang for your buck will be the Raymarine Dragonfly range offering WIFI etc etc. , owned by FLIR

see: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.raymarine.com/view/?id=11200" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.raymarine.com/view/?id=11200</a><!-- m -->

No 2nd hands yet but will keep you in mind if thats the rout you want to go.

Have a look on facebook - there is a chap selling HDS 5 Gen1 finders for R2500.00

Its under the bass junkie page - his name is Mw Dercksen.

I bought one and it is in perfect condition and other than a Gimble Bracket - everything was in place.

As said above Lowrance Elite 4 chirp, add another 500 rand and get the South African dams and rivers card . I paid about R 5 500 for the lot if I remember correctly.This was in Feb 2015 , with the rand weakening against the dollar they may have gone up.

Looks good but how does it compare to Elite Chirp models?

What is the difference between an Elite-7 Chirp and a Hook 7 model?

Price appears to be the same on the US Lowrance website.
