Hi there

Will we be able to catch the classic on the TV, seems that the bass shows are getting less and less on ESPN.

Cheers

I asked this very same question on the other forums not so long ago .

I understand that the bassmasters elite series is being showed on ESPN2 now and here in SA dstv has only ESPN and ESPN classic...the only bass programs i was watching on espn is the world greatest fishing show on sat and sun mornings.

If u ask me DSTV should should cancel ESPN classic and get ESPN 2...

Can anybody give me some stats of how many Bass fishermen/women/persons are in SA?
ie: how big is the sport?

Q,it would be difficult to get an exact number of bass anglers, but at a guess,SABAA could have 2000 members countrywide but I would imagine there would be five times that in non-affiliated anglers...all those weekend warriors, tubers and bank anglers could swell the bass angling fraternity to 10 to 15 thousand persons !That is a big handfull to try and persuade DSTV to get ESPN2...maybe some petition should get going.
Life is not about the number of breaths we make, but the moments that take our breath away.

I can remember those awesome shows we use to get:

Jimmy Houston Outdoors, The Bass Professor with Doug Hannon,The Bass Class with Denny Brauer, all the Flw tour events and BASSmaster elite series, I wish we could have saturday line ups like that again!!!

+ 1 Smurf, I will be the first to sign. ESPN Classic is a useless channel, or should I say at least for me it is.

Just some interesting stats I saw the other day during a presentation by the CEO of the Ugu District Municipality (KZN South Coast) Tourism Organisation.

The annual expense on angling in SA totals approximately R15 billion, which is more than what is spent on rugby, soccer and cricket combined. :blue-rolleyes:

Then I wonder why DSTV and SABC spend all their airtime on soccer? :blue-sad:

I think the difference is expensing money on your sport versus watching. Soccer has viewers...fishing has participators. DSTV are interesting in subscriptions not people buying soccer gear. My 2c.

Very interesting fact that (obviously includes all types of angling)

Heard a stat that there is 13 000 bass boats in SA - Cant back that up.
One fish can change it all.....
