I'm sure a fair amount of you have read or seen my bass boat build thread, but although I completed and launched my boat last year March, I used a friends engine to test it and it has stood in my driveway for the last 14 months patiently waiting for it's engine ever since.

2 weeks ago I finally bought an engine for my boat, rigged it last weekend and yesterday I officially launched my completed rig.

Engine ran very well although just as I suspected the prop pitch is way too low.
I'm hitting Max rpm at 3/4 throttle, 5500 rpm and 72kmh, according to my calculations that means I am getting zero % prop slip
I also can't get much bow lift with this prop.

She planes nicely at 41kmh and 3000rpm, 4000 rpm brings about 55km/h

We had some pretty nasty cold weather yesterday and got to test the boat in some pretty choppy water, at 4000rpm she was banging hard, but drop it down to 3000rpm and she handled it nicely.

Here's a short video of the boat

And here is a video of what I caught off it yesterday :blue-biggrin:

Almost forgot, I had left my scale at home but the fish was over 4kg, just not sure by how much.

Caught on a Norman Middle N in 5ft of water on 10lb Fluoro line, at 1pm in the afternoon.

Awesome post Shannon.

So glad that you labour of love has been rewarded by a permanent fixture on the back. Guess it is time to update the avatar with something in white hanging off the back!

Congrats on the fish. Saw the video on YouTube. Definitely a contender for COTM!
