Foook it, It takes me all of 5 min to try figure out how to make a new thread, yet spammers seem to be able to do this with ease...

The old forum was less susceptible to spammers and the likes, but this new forum seem to attract more spammers that actual anglers.

Could it be the format for the website/forum?

P!55 poor design and no management. Recipe for disappointment and disaster.

There is so much that could be done.

I offer R1000 for the domain, not worth more at the moment.

In the old system we had to approve anyone joining first. I think the new site I think the joining requirements had been lowered slightly.

Nav, I try spend some time on weekends purging the spammers but I don't know who is registering some of them? I must have done over 50 last Sunday but clearly this needs to be done more often........
The previous format allowed users to be deleted and this one not. Will have a look now as it's clearly problematic and frustrating for members such as Grandpa JFZ. Big Grin

Nav, see if you can unban Galenkt and then purge the user rather and which will delete all the posts clogging up our site. Thanks.
OR......we need admin to clear them up plus check the settings to see how some automatic activation is getting through the system.

Morning fellow fisher folk. Please please can a senior admin remove the 82 spam posts by this "Galenkt" character so our site has some character again?
Further, a few spammers got registered over the weekend and which I have purged but there were many multiple attempts of others awaiting approval. What's going on guys?

Rip, I don't think anybody with the requisite authority is listening. All websites require a near-constant hand on the tiller; this one hasn't had anybody at the helm since the relaunch.

I was really interested in buying this domain a while back and went as far as having a chat or two with the current owner. I had all sorts of ideas for a fresh, fun, active site that would reignite our little community. But that's a pipe-dream now.

This little boat is taking water over the gunnels.

I hear you Toadee. Water can however be pumped out.
Buy it, I'm keen to see what ideas you have.............

Nav - please can you get Andy to clean up the site and delete certain characters. He hasn't been online for a while.

Hi Guys, you are 100% correct, the spam measures where too relaxed, which I have corrected. SOrry that it took so long, didn't realise how bad it had gotten and I was worried at the same time that If i made the security too tight it might block legit registrations. Anyways its all sorted now, should work well to block 99% of the spam accounts and spam posts should be gone.

Hello BFSA fans (and ex fans),

I was one of many BFSA'ers (I think it was many) that anxiously waited for the birth of the new site after the so called "crash" of the good old BFSA site. Having been around for more than a decade it was such a relieve when one day (by chance) I saw the the site up and running again. This notwithstanding no notification by the owners (they could have easily sent a bulk mail to all members informing them that the site was up and running again) or me e-mailing Andy to tell him that the e-mail address provided on the temporary "Sorry" page (while the site was offline) was incorrect, it read and@bassfishing.co.za. Could this have been a deliberate mistake?

Be that as it may, the site came back and I immediately took part, well I tried. My first comment was to congratulate BFSA and all those that got the heart beat of BFSA going again. I also read the other comments and the "positive criticisms" and suggestions to improve the platform, lets be honest the platform is a bit upside down ...... but saw no response from "management", nothing nada, zero. I came back to the site a couple of times to see what is potting and what is new but the damn thing was still upside town, complicated and not user friendly at all. To be quite frank it must be the worst Forum ever.

My message to the owner/s and "management" is as follow: Get the site up to scratch, listen and reply to your loyal members, if not BFSA will be gone in no time.  Angel

Hi Ninja. Thank you for your message. Unfortunately I was unable to send a bulk email as I also lost my andy@bassfishing.co.za email but was posted on Facebook and also asked certain members to spread the word.  It was very difficult to loose the previous forum but unfortunately their was nothing I could do. I tried my utmost best trying to save it and was lucky enough to save the data.  Once I realised the site was lost I got on the phone immediately for quotes. These forums are not cheap and I was lucky enough that Brent put me in contact with Jonni who gave me a good price.  Some members might not think it's the best but these things are not cheap  and at least we have a forum again.  Anybody here can ask Brent how I was wanting to get the site up and running again.  I appreciate how Brent and Jonni helped me.  It seems that guys just complain and don't help us rebuild the site. Why not post something informative or at least try than complaining. I have created a whats app chat  for management.  If anyone is willing to join us and bring the old vibe and exciting back please what's app me on 0645008775

I do apologize Rip and Toadee and all other members. I was unavailable for the past few days.  Sorted it out yesterday with Jonni as soon as I noticed it. Toadee feel free to message me if you see something like this again please. You've got my number.  Once again I apologize.  Had a good evening

Andy,

It is really sad that you see the feedback from the loyal supporters /members to be complaining. No one said it was easy or cheap or that you did not put a great effort in to get the site up and running again, did you even read my first post on the new site?

Anyway, I suppose I have just been moved over to the ex BFSA fan category.

Cheers everyone.
