Spoke to Vicky's dad coming back from holiday this Dec and he reckons bass is making a comeback with a nice 3kg speciman that came out in Dec.

Well I hope everybody is ready for this weekend!
Looks like the weather is going to play along as well. Saturday warm and sunny and Sunday has a tiny chance of drizzle in the morning but cloud cover the whole day.
Also when last have you fished a dam that is 100%?

Friday evening: Registration for those that want to. One less thing to do Saturday morning.

Saturday
5am: Meet at boat club gate. Briefing and remainder of registration at boat club.
Once everybody is on the water we will start.
4pm: Weigh in

Sunday
5am: Meet at boat club gate.
Once everybody is on the water we will start.
1pm: weigh in

There was an unexpected fee that I was only made aware of yesterday. Entry to the boat club is R30/person a day so R60 for the weekend. That is also a reduced rate because we aren’t really using the slip (heavy 4x4 and boat on trailer)
It would be unfair to expect you guys to cover that as well at such a late stage so it will be covered in the KBT entry fee.
Apologies for that. Now we know for next time if there is a next time.

Yip me too. Heard of some decent fish coming out over December holidays but not many fish.

Guys. Vicky has had two cancellations for cabins this week. So if you are looking for accommodation give her a call.

See you tomorrow evening.

Hi Guys,

I'm a relatively new bass fisherman from the Cape Town area. I just bought my first kick boat and after a single morning on the water, I love it! I was wondering how the fishing at Buffelsjags went. I have some leave days coming up, and I have to decide where to go and fish. Would Buffelsjag be a good choice for a newbie? My other choice would be to return to Mofam where I went for my first time.

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi,

Buffeljags was quite challenging for some of the guys. Mofam has treated me well over the years and is a great venue to get comfortable on your kickboat.

So this past weekend we had our first BFSA KBT at Buffeljags dam. With mixed reports leading up to the KBT I was a bit nervous about putting it on the schedule. Boy was I wrong, sure there wasn’t exceptional number caught (but where has there been this season in the WC) but the average size coming out was not expected.
Gowi had a epic day1 and weighed in a record 3 fish limit for the BFSA KBT of 6.86kg. Bronnie in 2nd with 4.96kg and Werner with 4.1kg. There were numerous fish around and over the 2kg mark weighed in resulting in some impressive bags.
Day2 was a different story with a cold front pushing over the night before giving the bass a case of lock jaw but Andrew managed to work them out weighing in a 6.24kg bag (5th heaviest bag in KBT history) including the big fish of the KBT a 3.2kg beauty. Together with his good bag on Saturday gave him top spot with a total weight of 10.7kg/14.7pts.
On debut Bronnie was in 2nd place (6.74kg/10.74pts) and Werner aka Tolla was in 3rd (5.9kg/9.9pts)

A massive thank you to everybody that made the trip to this BFSA KBT and all the sponsors for the day (Eddles Gas & Tackle, Outdoors365, greenfish.co.za, Southern Bass Culture and Suburban Tackle) who provided us with a rod, lures and tackle as prizes and also to everybody that fished the KBT.
As well as our season prize sponsors, 13Fishing South Africa, BWG, Pisces Predator, floattubes.co.za and Eddles Gas & Tackle.

With one KBT left on the season there is plenty to fish for with a congested leaderboard.
The top5 are as follows:
1. Gowi de Jongh 188 points
2. Werner du Toit 186 points
3. Barend Brand 179 points
4. Hendrik Brand 178 points
5. Coenie Fourie 176 points

Will post some photos tomorrow when I get a gap.

Hope to see everybody at Bulshoek for our final regular season KBT.
